Science Autumn Walk

We had a lovely walk last Tuesday afternoon, around Bicton village. The children were looking for items that reminded them of Autumn. They then brought these back to the classroom to look at closely and have written some great, descriptive sentences about their findings.

Class 2 Weekly update

English: This week the children have been continuing our routine with RWI. Two groups have been reading their RWI books and writing about it whilst the other two groups have been independently working on the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. The children have also been learning how to add ‘ing’ to a verb and using these in sentences and today focused on adding ‘s’ to a word to change it from singular to plural e.g. one cat – two cats.

Maths: We have been looking at 2D shapes this week. The children have been learning how to identify circles, squares, oblongs and triangles and what properties these shapes have. They have also been identifying these shapes in everyday life e.g. our doors are oblong and the clock in the classroom is a circle.

Science: We had lots of fun on Tuesday walking around Bicton village finding things that remind us of Autumn. The children found lots of lovely, colourful leaves, berries, etc and put these in the middle of the table to inspire their creative writing. The children used lots of lovely adjectives to describe their findings.

Spellings: To be tested Friday 1st December 2017.
