Microsoft Teams

Good afternoon,

Please could you support your child with logging into Microsoft Teams this afternoon/evening to complete a task. This has been set up to make sure everyone knows how to access the work set in the event of self isolating or the bubble closing. I have been through the steps with the class this afternoon and they should know where to find the task set, there are some simple instructions if they have forgotten.

Please let me know if you have any difficulties.

Many thanks, Mrs Erasmus

Curriculum overview

Good afternoon,

Here is the curriculum overview for Rowan class and Maple class:

Autumn half term 2 overview

We had a great first half term back in school and it was brilliant to see how the children have all settled back into the school routines. We are really looking forward to diving deeper into our Geography topic of “Earthquakes and Volcanoes.”  Our English book “Escape from Pompeii” fits this topic perfectly and it has been brilliant to have seen the children combining their knowledge from both subject areas.

If a child has to self isolate or the bubble closes, remote learning will be provided via Microsoft Teams. There has been a letter which was sent out from Mrs Johnson before half term to explain how this will work.

Finally, if you can, please download the Class Dojo app so that we can share any achievements or news regarding your child. A letter has gone out with details on how to sign in.

If there are any questions at all then please don’t hesitate to ask!

Best wishes,

Mr Taylor and Mrs Erasmus

Show Racism The Red Card!

We have had a wonderful day in school today raising awareness for the charity Show Racism the Red Card.

The children have all produced some fantastic, thoughtful artwork and we will be sharing some of this with you virtually next week.

We have raised over £100 for the charity so thank you very much for making a donation and taking part!

Wear Red Day – Reminder

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Friday 16th October, Hazel, Rowan, Maple and Oak will be marking “Wear Red Day” in support of the “Show Racism the Red Card” charity. Each class will be creating pieces of artwork to symbolise the continuing fight against racism and discrimination, and to celebrate our differences.

We are asking the children in these classes to wear something red and bring a £1 donation to the charity. This is going to be a really exciting day for the children, and we are looking forward to seeing the art work that is produced! We will be sharing some pieces of work via a virtual exhibition on the school website on week beginning 19th October.

Thank you

Spelling Shed

This year we are using Spelling Shed for spelling practise and assessments. I will set the spellings on a Monday and your child will then be assessed the following Monday. Please allow your child to practise their spellings at home throughout the week. Your child‘s login details are in the front of their reading diary and the link is below.

We have practised using the website in school so your child should know how to login and use the games.

If you have any problems please let me know.

Happy spelling!

Welcome back!

Good afternoon,

I hope you all had a lovely summer!

We have had a super first few days in Maple class. We have spent lots of time practising hand washing and getting back into our school routine.

Time Tables Rockstars

This week we have practised using TTRS to help us with our times tables. Each child has a username and password that they can use to login and practise at home. Follow the link to the website

PE

As you are aware, on PE days children will come to school in their PE kits. At the moment our PE days are Monday and Friday. Maple class know we are doing PE tomorrow so will hopefully remind you! If the days change we will let you know.

Reading books

Maple class have all taken a book out of the school library. This is for them to enjoy reading in school and at home. It is really important for children to read at home whenever possible. It doesn’t have to be the book they have taken from school, just whatever suits you! Please fill in their ready diaries when you have read.

If your child has a library book at home from last term, please bring it back ASAP!

It has been a pleasure welcoming back your children! They have been amazing considering the amount of time most of them have been away from school. I look forward to seeing them all tomorrow, in their PE kits!!

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Erasmus
