Sporting Events

Well done to all the children who braved the weather to take part in last week’s cross country event at The Corbet, Tuesday’s Year 5/6 hockey team and especially to the U10s football team who played in freezing conditions on Wednesday evening!

Late Arrival

Please could we remind everyone that school starts at 8:55 a.m. and children must be in school when the register is taken at 9:00.  We have seen a significant increase in recent weeks in the number of children arriving at school after the register has been completed and this affects how children settle in for the school day ahead. Any children arriving late also need to make sure that they tell the Office if they would like a school lunch ordering, as the dinner register may also have been completed.

If children are not in school by 9:00 they will be marked as late and persistent late arrival is likely to result in parents/guardians being contacted by the Local Authority.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

FOBs Movie Night

We are looking forward to the movie night arranged by FOBs for next Friday evening.  If you haven’t bought your ticket yet, please speak to the school office on Monday to check if any tickets are still available.

School Uniform

Please could you check that your child’s name is in all items of their school uniform, as we have quite a few unnamed items of clothing in Lost Property outside Class 1. Thank you.

Letters out this week:

Parent governor ballot forms – votes must be in by 3:15 p.m. on Friday 29th.

Have a nice weekend.

Cake Sale

Dear Parents/Carers,

On Wednesday 27th January at morning break, Class 4 will be holding a cake sale outside their classroom to raise money for people affected by the recent flooding.

A few of the children in the class had wanted to do something after learning about different natural disasters around the world as part of out topic ‘Extreme Earth’.

Class 4 would like to ask for any donations of cakes, buns or biscuits to be brought in before Wednesday.

The cake sale will be open to all children. Small cakes and biscuits will be 20p. Larger cakes and biscuits will be 50p. Please could children bring in no more than £2.

Thank you for your support,

Welcome back after the holiday and it has been lovely to hear all the children’s news!

Free Fruit Friday at the Coop

Every Friday in January, children wearing their school uniform are able to visit the Coop after school to choose a piece of fruit free of charge.  We are sure you will agree this is a fantastic scheme and we hope it might encourage children to try something new.

Before-School Provision (After Breakfast Club)

Following on from our Safer Schools Survey and subsequent meeting last term, we are going to trial extending our before-school provision. From Monday 18th January, you will be able to drop your child at the School Hall from 8:30 onwards and pay just 50p for supervision by staff until school starts.  We hope this will ease the school car park whilst also helping parents and guardians who may need to get to work earlier.  Children will then all be taken from the Hall onto the playground, when the gate opens at 8:45.  A letter will be sent out next week with more information but if you have any questions before the 18th please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Helen/Lisa at the Office.

Letters home this week:

Parent Governor election forms – whole school

U10s football letter (Year 4 & 5 boys who played in Round 1)

Years 3 & 4 Stepping Out letter

Cross Country event – open to Years 3 to 6

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Christmas Performances

Thank you again for all your support this week and in the weeks leading up to the Nativity performances and the Carol Service.  It has been a rather busy week but the children have kept going until the end and we are all very proud of them.  Hopefully they will sleep well for you this evening!

Next Term

Please remember to check the website for clubs information next term. Just a reminder that there are NO CLUBS on WEDNESDAY 6th JANUARY due to a staff training event and the U11s football tournament.

Y3/4 Residential Visit to Condover

The company have agreed to extend our booking window to the first week back.  If you would like your child to take part in the visit, please return the permission slip and £15 deposit on Tuesday 5th January.

On behalf of all the staff and governors, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and hopefully a bit of a rest before we return to school on Tuesday 5th January.

Christmas Fayre Total

Well done to everyone involved in making the Christmas Fayre so successful.  We raised a fantastic £650!  Thank you also to FOBs who raised over £350 from the raffle and the refreshments!  This is a wonderful achievement and the monies raised will benefit all the children in the school.  Thank you again.
