Harvest Celebration Assembly

Next Friday 24th October is our harvest and autumn term celebration assembly.  We would very much appreciate donations of food items for our assembly, which will be gratefully received by St. Winefride’s in Shrewsbury.  Please could any donations be left at the Office before next Friday morning.

It is always wonderful to see so many parents and other family members at our assemblies but could we please ask you not to park on Bicton Lane and to use the village hall car park instead.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Chris’s Final Assembly

We will be saying goodbye to our vicar Chris, on Monday morning in assembly.  Each class has been busy making a big card for Chris but you are welcome to send in a personal card if you wish.

Final calendar photos

The final three photos will be taken between Monday and Wednesday next week, for February, May and September. Fingers crossed everybody is in school!  If your child has taken their clothes for their photo home, please could they bring them back into school on Monday.

Parents’ Evenings – No Clubs

Just a reminder that there will be no after-school clubs on Tuesday or Wednesday, because of Parents’ evenings.

There will also be no Cross Country Club next Friday, because of the Halloween disco.

Calendar

Your child has been given a letter explaining what they will need to bring in next week for the calendar photos.  We are hoping to take all of the photos by the end of the day on Wednesday, providing that all of the children and staff involved in a particular month are present!  As explained in the letter, it would be helpful if children could leave their clothes in school, until their photo has been taken.

Parents’ Evening – Booking and No Clubs

If you have not already made an appointment to meet with your child’s class teacher/s,  please can you do so before next Friday when the booking system closes.

There will be no after-school clubs on those two evenings (21st and 22nd October.)

Helicopter Visit

We are all set for the forthcoming helicopter visit next Wednesday.  You are more than welcome to pop into School during the morning but please remember there will be very limited parking available at school.  Please can you use the Village Hall car park and not park on Bicton lane which can cause hazards to motorists and pedestrians.

Class 2 Parents Lunch

We are looking forward to parents and/or grandparents joining Class 2 for lunch next week from Tuesday to Friday.  You can order and pay for a school lunch at the Office, if you have not already done so.

Bags2School

Thank you for the bags of clothing etc. that have been brought into school so far.  The bags will be collected on October 21st.

Letters home this week:

  • Music tuition fees
  • Calendar photos
  • Class 5 Celebration Assembly ‘outfits’

Many thanks.

Making pet carriers

This week we have been looking at what pets we have and talking about them with the rest of the class.  Today we thought about what a pet needs for a pet carrier / home.  We decided that they need food, water, a shelter, air holes, a handle and toys.  We then used junk materials to make our own carrier/home for our pet and thought carefully about what features it needed to include.  Here are some pictures of what we made…

Flora Tubs4Tablets tokens

Dear Parent / Guardian,

This autumn Flora and Stork, in partnership with Tesco, are running an amazing scheme called Tubs4Tablets which aims to help our school bring cutting edge technology into the classroom.

The scheme gives primary and middle schools in Great Britain the opportunity to collect tokens from special tubs of Flora and Stork on sale at Tesco from early October and exchange them for FREE touch screen tablets!

We need to collect as many tokens as possible, these can be found on promotional 500g tubs of Flora Original, Light and Buttery and Stork (subject to availability).
Hand us your tokens… Just 50 tokens will get our school one brand new Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0” Wi-Fi 8GB tablet so help us to claim as many as we can.

Many Thanks.

Making faces using natural materials

Class 1 have had lots of fun outside this morning using the natural objects they collected at the woods to make large scale faces.   They all worked well in their groups to decide how they were going to make their face and what features to use.  Well done Class 1!
