Drop off/Collection Procedures
School starts at 8:35am when the school gate will open. The gate will be locked at 8:45am and any children arriving after 8:45am will need to report to the school office to sign in. School finishes at 3:15pm and parents can collect their children from outside their classroom on the Key Stage 1 playground.
A member of staff will open the Nursery gate at 8.45am. Nursery finishes at 3:00pm. Please ensure that you are on time to collect your child/ren unless they are booked into an after-school club.
Children may walk home alone in Year 6 if you have informed school of parental consent. Children will not be allowed to walk home alone from any extra-curricular clubs.
Communication with Staff
If you need to speak to your child’s class teacher, please either see them at the end of the school day or send an email via admin@bicton.shropshire.sch.uk. Messages on Class Dojo will not be monitored and so will not be responded to.
Absence
If your child will be absent from school, please notify the school office by 8:45am via phone call. Because school is required by law to account for the whereabouts of every child when school is open as soon as possible in the school day, the school office will call you if we have not been informed of the absence.
School Lunches
A hot school lunch is provided free to all pupils in EYFS, Year 1 and 2. The School menu is available here and costs £2.60. You have flexibility to choose each day if you would like a school lunch, your child simply lets their teacher know at registration. We ask that you pay for meals in advance and keep your sQuid account regularly topped up so it does not go into deficit.
Admission Arrangements.
The Shropshire primary school admission round for pupils born between 01/09/2020 – 31/08/2021 opens on Monday 4th November. The closing date for applications is Wednesday 15th January 2025/ If you have a child who would be starting school in September 2025, then please visit the Shropshire Council school admissions page for further information: https://next.shropshire.gov.uk/school-admissions/
School Website/Class Dojo
Please remember to visit the school website and/or Class Dojo to find out what your child will be learning this term and to read the individual class newsletters. This information can be found on the class pages in the parents’ area. We also like to keep the class pages up to date with what the children have been busy doing in class. You can also find the school calendar in the parents’ area to keep you up to date with school events and term dates.
Breakfast & After School Club
Breakfast Club begins on Wednesday 4th September and opens from 7.45am every morning. Places can be booked and paid for in advance via your sQuid account. Children should be dropped off at the side door of the Hall and please do not leave your child/children unsupervised until they are let into school by a member of staff. The cost per morning is £3.25.
From Monday 9th September, we will be running a number of extra-curricular clubs. These run daily until 4.30pm (Film Club until 5.30pm). Emergency childcare will be available on Wednesday 4th, Thursday 5th and Friday 6th September until 4.30pm. All clubs should be booked via sQuid and a letter detailing the clubs for this half term will be sent out later in the week.
Mobile Phones
As part of the schools e-safety policy, no pupil mobile phones are permitted in school or on trips. In addition, no images or videos must be taken on any mobile devices of pupils or staff in school and posted on any form of social media site.
Music Lessons
We are delighted to continue working with Shropshire Music Service to deliver whole class instrumental sessions. Individual tuition can also be hosted in school and booked through their website https://www.shropshiremusicservice.org.uk/services/instrumental-lessons/
Inhalers/Medicines
If your child is asthmatic/has a medical condition please bring in your child’s inhaler/medicines on the first day of school and pass to a member of staff. You will also need to fill in a medical form from the School Office.
Uniform Expectations
Please see our uniform expectations on the school website. School uniform is purchased directly from School Shop Direct. Full school uniform should be worn with the exception of PE days and Forest School days where children should come to school in their PE kit/forest school clothing. Please ensure that all uniform is clearly labelled with your child’s name to help reduce lost property. PE/Forest School Days will be communicated by your child’s class teacher.
