Loopy Sunday – 8 Feb, 3pm, Mission Church, Bomere Heath

Hello everyone,

A month has gone already since our first Loopy Sunday in January, with our next happening this coming Sunday, 8 Feb, at the Mission Church in Bomere. We’ll gather at 3pm to share food and drink, before exploring themes of forgiveness through the story Jesus told of the Lost Son. We have a journey of prayer planned for the space before we finish with a time to sing. As usual, we aim for the whole thing to take about an hour.

KS1 Benchball

A group of KS1 children went to Crowmoor Primary School this afternoon for an afternoon of Benchball. They were FANTASTIC and won all bar one of their games! They showed such great sportsmanship and our Bicton school values. Well done all of you!

SIAMs Inspection

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are delighted to share the wonderful news that, following our recent SIAMS inspection, our school has been awarded the highest possible judgement.

The inspection recognised how strongly we are living out our foundation as a Church school, enabling both pupils and adults to truly flourish. Inspectors highlighted the nurturing culture we have created, where “pupils and adults learn to respect and value one another”, and described our school as a “warm and welcoming” community.

They were particularly impressed by the “wealth of opportunities” provided for pupils to be the very best they can be, alongside a “well‑planned, inclusive curriculum that is carefully adapted to meet the needs of all learners.” It was also noted that pupils “feel safe and secure” and that they consistently look out for one another with empathy and care.

This exceptional outcome is a testament to the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the positive attitudes and behaviour of our pupils. We are incredibly proud of our whole school community and grateful for your continued partnership and support.

Head of School Message

Dear parents/carers,

Despite the dreary weather outside, there has been plenty of hard work, enthusiasm, and great learning happening throughout the school this week. Classrooms have been full of energy, and pupils continue to impress us with their resilience, motivation and positivity.

We are currently planning a number of trips for different year groups, and the children are already buzzing with excitement—especially with Arthog just around the corner next week! A huge thank you to all our Year 4 parents who attended the Liverpool residential meeting; your support and engagement are greatly appreciated.

Next week promises to be a busy and enjoyable one, with the Arthog visit, a KS1 sports competition, and the start of our iRock sessions. There’s lots to look forward to for everyone.

FOBs News!

FOBS News

We’re delighted to announce that FOBS is hosting a Valentine’s Day Disco on 12^th February, immediately afterschool.

Tickets are £5 per child and will go toward our fundraising goal of building a trim trail, climbing wall and improving the early years play area. Tickets can be purchased at Reception, cut off date for tickets is Friday, 6^th February.

Sandwiches, veggies, crisps, biscuits and squash will be provided by FOBS. Games, cakes and popcorn will be 50p each, but of course, dancing and having fun will be FREE!

We hope you’ll join us for this event and the many more to come this year. And of course, if you’d like to get involved by volunteering, donating or sponsoring, please do! Our next meeting is at the Grapes at 8pm on 10^th February. We’d love to hear your ideas!

Lastly, a special shoutout to Florence Atherton and her dad Chris for designing the amazing Valentine’s Day Disco poster!

Prompt collection

We would like to thank you for your continued support of our after school clubs.

To ensure the clubs can continue to run safely and sustainably, we are writing to let you know that from after the half‑term break, a charge will be applied for late collection (4.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 5.30pm on Wednesdays).

Unfortunately, late pick‑ups have a significant impact on staffing arrangements and result in additional staffing costs for the school. Introducing a late collection charge will help us manage these costs fairly and ensure staff are appropriately supported.

Further details regarding the charge and how it will be applied will be shared shortly.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in collecting children promptly at the end of each session. As always, if there are exceptional circumstances, please inform the school as soon as possible.

Head of School Message

Dear parents/carers,

We have had a wonderfully busy week in school this week and I was so proud to show our school and pupils to the SIAMs inspector who visited our school on Thursday. We will receive the report in 3 weeks time and this will then be shared. Thank you to the parents who took time to speak to the inspector and those who sent in kind messages of support – we are so grateful for your kindness.

Willow Class enjoyed their first Stay, Read and Play session! I know it is not always easy to attend these things in the middle of your working week but we were delighted that so many grownups were able to share this time with the children. Hopefully this will become a regular fixture on the calendar!

There are 4 places remaining on iRock. We are delighted that so many children have signed up and we can’t wait to watch your performances!
