It has been a rather wet and chilly week, but there’s been plenty to smile about! We were absolutely delighted to receive our outstanding SIAMS report, which really reflects the care, values and hard work that go on in our school every day. The report is available to read here if you’d like to take a look.
We were also incredibly proud of our KS1 children, who took part in their very first sports competition this week at Crowmoor Primary School. They were fantastic — showing great teamwork, enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout.
As I write this, our Year 6 pupils are currently at Arthog and having a wonderful time. They’ve been making the most of every moment, and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back this afternoon (tired but happy, no doubt!).
There’s lots happening next week too. Julia Buckley, our local MP, will be visiting school to meet the children and answer their questions about the proposed new housing development in Bicton. Reverend Dave will also be working with some of our pupils on how we can continue to make our school more dementia friendly.
Mrs Gairy and our Courageous Advocacy Council are also hosting a bake sale on Tuesday, 50p a cake and the proceeds are going to school in Uganda that is currently being run by the One Love Project. Miss Merricks will be volunteering at the school in Uganda later on this month. When she explained to the school council what her role would involve and that she was raising money to help the children (many of whom are orphans), the school council were keen to help.
We would be very grateful for donations of cakes, cookies, brownies or other baked goods for the bake sale next week Tuesday 20th February. Please remember to label any allergens, if donating home baked goods. Packaged items can be dropped off before the day of the sale and home-baked goods are best brought in on the day.
All items will be sold for 50p each. Thank you for your support!
Next week is Children’s Mental Health Week, and our Safety Soldiers will be launching this on Monday. They’ll be talking to the children about this year’s theme, “This Is My Place.”
Parent consultation bookings should be going live next week, and we’re also in the process of finalising term dates for 2026–2027, which will be shared as soon as they’re ready.
And finally, a reminder about our Valentine’s Disco after school on Thursday — pick-up will be at 4.45pm, and I’m afraid it’s no grown-ups allowed!
