Class 3 Weekly Update

English: This week we have been learning how to write a set of instructions. We started the week by reading some instructions and finding the different features and then we wrote a whole class set of instructions. The children also had a go at independently writing their own instructions for a marvellous medicine. The Year 2 children focused on using imperative verbs, adverbs and expanded noun phrases in their work. The Year 3 children focused on using imperative verbs, prepositions, conjunctions and adverbs of time and manner.

We have also done some work on lines of symmetry. They Year 3 children have been challenged to identify parallel lines and perpendicular lines within a shape.

Science: The children carried out their investigation this week to see which surface the toy car would move on the quickest. They recorded their results and wrote a conclusion.

Geography: The children have been identifying mountains and hills within the UK.

D&T: The children tasted some different toppings for their scones in order to help them make decisions about their own scone they will eventually make.

RE: We have gone over the Easter story this week and have re-told it ourselves, thinking about how the different parts make us feel.

Shape

Class 2 World Book Day

On World Book Day, Class 2 were introduced to our new class story ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’. We had a day based around this story, completing lots of fun activities. We began with listening to the story, followed by acting the story out in a group and presenting it to the rest of the class. We then thought about the Tiger’s diet and decided he didn’t have a very healthy diet as he ate lots of food from Sophie’s house. The children were given the task of designing a healthy meal for the tiger and drawing their design onto a paper plate. Before lunch we decorated biscuits ready for our Tiger Tea Party in the afternoon. The children had a lovely afternoon, decorating a tiger mask and eating lots of goodies at the tiger tea party.

School is OPEN Monday 5th March

School will be open on Monday 5th March, 2018. Please can all parents/guardians and children use the pathways that are snow/ice-free and avoid any areas that may still be snow-covered.

Thank you
