Exploitation and Vulnerability

Safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults is everybody’s responsibility.  This 2 hour free, briefing session will give you an insight into Exploitation and Vulnerability in Shropshire – we must raise awareness.  It contains vital information for anyone who has responsibility for children or young people (ie parent, grandparent, guardian or carer etc).  It will provide an understanding of the realties in our County in terms of:

  • Child sexual exploitation (CSE)
  • Child criminal exploitation (CCE)
  • Organised crime groups/gangs
  • Modern day slavery

There are three free sessions to choose from (they are all the same):

  • Monday 23 November 10.00 to 12.00
  • Monday 23 November 14.00 to 16.00
  • Monday 23 November 18.30 to 20.30

The sessions are being delivered by West Mercia Police Trainers and are open to anyone (members and non-members).

To book simply visit https://www.shropshire-chamber.co.uk/events/page/3/

Kind regards

Mrs Dean Harris JP, The High Sheriff of Shropshire

And finally…

we hope you all have a restful and, hopefully, healthy half term and we look forward to seeing all the children on Monday 2nd November.

Take care

Mrs Johnson and staff x

Latest News 20.10.2020

Hi everyone

Please read the following important messages.

Dinner money – REMINDER

All outstanding dinner money must be paid by Thursday 22nd. If you are in credit, any monies will be transferred over to your sQuid account. Please note, a negative balance i.e. monies owing, cannot be transferred over to sQuid as the system does not allow this. Thank you

Parking – polite reminder

We have been contacted by several parents regarding issues on our school car park. We are very fortunate in having such a large car park particularly when the majority of primary schools do not have any parking on site for parents.  Please can all adults driving onto the school car park adhere to the following, especially at the end of the school day:

  • Do not block other vehicles in then leave your vehicle unattended.
  • Do not park in the bus lane or on the island next to the bus lane.
  • Vehicles are not permitted to drive down the side of the school, at the start or end of the school day, as this poses a risk to children and adults walking to and from the Hall. This area is for staff vehicles only.
  • When the car park is full, use the Village Hall car park instead.

Show Racism The Red Card!

We have had a wonderful day in school today raising awareness for the charity Show Racism the Red Card.

The children have all produced some fantastic, thoughtful artwork and we will be sharing some of this with you virtually next week.

We have raised over £100 for the charity so thank you very much for making a donation and taking part!

Weekly News 16/10/2020

Hello everyone

The weekly news this week is one full of ‘thanks.’

Thank you for the overwhelmingly positive response to our COVID-19 safety measure for all adults coming onto the school site to wear face masks/coverings. It’s vital that we all follow the measures in place, to keep us all safe and well, and we are grateful to all the adults who have supported this.

Thank you for the Harvest donations for the Shrewsbury Food Bank.

We would still welcome any further donations for the Shrewsbury Food Bank. They urgently need the following items:

  • size 5 and 6 nappies
  • gravy granules
  • meals in a tin e.g. chilli con carne, curry, stew
  • shampoo / conditioner

If you are able to donate any of the following items, please leave them in the plastic container outside the school office and we thank you in advance for your support.

Thank you for your support with ‘Show Racism the Red Card – Wear Red Day.’

The children have produced some wonderful artwork today, as part of ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ day. Keep an eye out on the website for a gallery of some of the children’s artwork.

Updated risk assessment

Please see our updated risk assessment below – the main changes are highlighted in green.

Reminder about paying for Clubs

Please can you make sure that any monies owing for clubs are paid in full by Friday 23rd October – the last day of this half term. Children will not be able to attend Clubs after half-term (from 2nd November) if there are monies owing. Thank you.

Finally, just a reminder that children must arrive promptly for the start of the school day. We know that there are sometimes unavoidable reasons why children are late but we are seeing an increasing number of children arriving late after their designated entrance has been closed. We cannot have lots of children from different bubbles coming through the main entrance in the morning, as this poses a potential risk to staff and other children.

Have  a good weekend.

Mrs Johnson

Message from Severn Loop Parishes

Dear Friends,
Please  see our weekly news, readings and reflections below.
I hope all is well with you, in what has been a challenging week in our life together as a nation.
Just a few things to mention – please do take note of our plans for our Remembering with Love and Remembrance services this year. This week on Pyjama Church we’re going to be focusing on one of the miracle stories – Calming the Storm – something that feels very timely! Look out for a couple of our Bicton pupils. Do join if you’d like to – any time after 6pm on Sunday evening.
Finally, it’s not too late to watch our Harvest Celebration (link in the Loop), which has now had 94 views – not far off 100… let’s see if we can get there…!
Mary-Lou has had some time off this week- we hope and pray that it’s been lovely.
Love and Blessings,
Hannah

Wear Red Day – Reminder

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Friday 16th October, Hazel, Rowan, Maple and Oak will be marking “Wear Red Day” in support of the “Show Racism the Red Card” charity. Each class will be creating pieces of artwork to symbolise the continuing fight against racism and discrimination, and to celebrate our differences.

We are asking the children in these classes to wear something red and bring a £1 donation to the charity. This is going to be a really exciting day for the children, and we are looking forward to seeing the art work that is produced! We will be sharing some pieces of work via a virtual exhibition on the school website on week beginning 19th October.

Thank you
