Missing Coat

Rhys from Class 4 has lost a camaflouge-print coat after clubs. It may have his name in it. If your child has a similar coat please could you check that they have brought the correct one home.

Thank you.

Home-link books and letters home

Please could we ask that children who travel home on the bus are clear about whether they are going on the bus or are being collected at the end of the school day. A note can be written in home-link books for children in Classes 1, 2 and 3 which staff can use to check if children are unsure; older children in Classes 4 and 5 should be able to remember how they are travelling home. This will help staff and avoid Mrs Neal or Mrs Jones having to contact you when a child is unsure.

Could we also ask you to check your child’s bag for letters or first aid slips being sent home. This is particularly important for bumped head slips where guidelines have recently changed and request that parents and carers observe their child for 72 hours following a bumped head incident.

Thank you for your support with this and please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff if you have any questions.

School Family Fortunes – Special Event for Friday March 21st

We are very excited to announce a special Spring fundraising event that is coming up in just a few weeks time: Bicton School Family Fortunes

Family Fortunes PosterThis is a totally different sort of event for us and we have thought long and hard about how we can put together a really good night out that brings together parents, teachers and the children of the school. A one-off event that really is unmissable and worth attending!

We are absolutely thrilled that ALL the class Teachers were really keen to take part and have given up a Friday night to appear as a team on stage. They say that they are really excited and feel confident about getting the top answers and are definitely not expecting to be hearing the famous ‘UH-Uhhh’ wrong answer sound.
Doing battle for the reputation and honour of the Parents, are a highly skilled and glamorous team of very competitive folk who say that they simply will not accept an on-stage defeat. They are keen to end the night with a resounding victory and are also hoping to be going home with £30,000 and a new Speedboat (which isn’t going to happen!)

Thanks to all the parents who returned the consent forms; Doug Williams and Mrs Barker have been very busy surveying the children and report that yesterday they were doubled up with laughter at some of the surprising answers the children gave to questions! They say it’s really revealing some of the parents’ (and teachers’) habits!

Members of the teams are already suspected of the underhand tactics of bribing the children with sweets or class rewards in return for information but, true to their word, the children’s lips are remaining sealed.

Not content with putting on an excellent and hilarious quiz, we’ll also be treating you to other acts on the night: The School Choir are going to be performing a cool chart song, The Caroline Lewis School of Dance are going to be showing off their moves in an excellent dance number and to top that off we have a very talented Mystery Parent Singer – prepare to be smoothed right over!

During the quiz, there will be some exciting opportunities for the audience to win spot prizes, so if you’re lucky, you won’t go away empty handed!

It’s a sit down event with a bar. Drinks and snacks will be available to buy at the start of the evening and in the interval. As you know from the celebration assemblies in the hall, seats are very limited – tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

We will be selling tickets on the playground after school next week and they will also be available in the school office. All proceeds go towards school funds.

Breakfast Club

We’ve noticed that several children are bringing in spreads for toast, as well as different cereals, to eat at Breakfast Club.  Please could we ask you not to send in food items as we need to consider other children’s allergies and food intolerances.  We already provide a range of cereals and spreads to cater for children’s different tastes but, after talking to children in Breakfast Club this week, we will be ordering additional spreads for them to choose from next week.

Thank you for your support with this and please do not hesitate to speak to myself or a member of staff at Breakfast Club if you have any queries.

Parents Evenings and Clubs

The booking system for our Spring term parents evenings, on Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th March, will open on the website this Friday.  As previously, there will be NO CLUBS on those two evenings.

Book Appointments here:

We are hoping to start football club next Wednesday but this depends on the field having dried out sufficiently. Mrs Jones will update the calendar on the website on Friday, if it is going ahead.

Many thanks.
