Parking Measures

Further to the letter sent home on Tuesday, and previous letters and emails, thank you to adults who have parked at the Village Hall or made other arrangements for travelling to and from school. A further letter has been sent home today concerning the following:

We would like to reiterate that there is no parking in the school car park before or after school including when collecting from after school clubs that finish at 4:15 or 4:30.  It is still possible to drive into the car park to drop children at the Hall for Breakfast or 8:30 Club and also to collect children from Film Club on Tuesdays after 5:00 p.m.  These measures are for everyone’s safety, as well as ensuring that delivery vehicles can access and exit the school site safely, and were discussed at length and agreed by the School’s Governing Body and the Local Authority prior to the commencement of the building work.

It is also imperative that vehicles are not parked on the zig zag lines on Bicton Lane or on the crossing, which has been the case on several days this week, as adults and children are unable to see if it is safe to cross the road and residents cannot see to drive out on to Bicton Lane safely. There are still disabled parking spaces available for badge holders and thank you to parents who have enquired about this.  If you have any questions about the current arrangements, please do not hesitate to speak to me.

8:30 Club – no fee during building work from next week

To help ease parking in the village before school, there will be no cost from next week onwards for the 8:30 club whilst the school car park is out of use.  Adults can drop children at the Hall between 8:30 and 8:35 at the latest and children will be supervised by a member of staff before being taken to their classes at 8:45. Please ask if you have any questions.

Defibrillator training – Monday 19th September from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m.

We have at last been able to secure a provider to deliver training for our defibrillator which we were able to purchase last year through fund raising and several donations. The training is open to any parents and if you would like to attend please let the Office know. Further details are in the letter attached below.

Club fees reminder

Please could we remind you of the charges for clubs as follows:

Craft Club £1.00 per child

Finally…

We have had a fantastic first week back and we have been amazed at how well the new children have settled in at Bicton School and enjoyed making friends with the older children.  Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Weekly News 02.09.16

First week back

The sunny weather looks set to continue next week so please can children bring a sunhat to wear at break-times and have sun-cream applied before coming to school.  They may also bring a bottle of water to school and it would be helpful if this is labelled with their name.

Uniform

Please can you remember to label all of your child’s school uniform, including PE kit, and their coat/jacket. Children often decide to take their sweatshirt/cardigan off when they are playing outside and if the clothing is not labelled it is often difficult to match it up with the right owner at the end of break-time! Thank you in advance for your support with this.

School dinner

Just in case you did not receive the letter last term (see below), the cost of a school dinner will be increasing to £2.10 per day from next week for children in Years 3 to 6 and also Pre-School.

Increase in cost of dinners September 2016

Medication

Just a reminder that all inhalers and any medication which your child needs in school, should be brought into school the first day back please.  If your child is starting different/additional medication, a permission form will need to be completed at the Office.

We are looking forward to seeing the children next week and hope you enjoy the last few days.

Floral Train Success

I’m sure many of you will have seen our carriage in the Floral Train at Shrewsbury Flower Show last weekend. A huge thanks to Mrs Orrell and the other parents who tended the plants in the weeks leading up to the show and all their hard work certainly paid off as we were awarded first prize!

Eco-Room

It’s all go this week when work got under way on the new eco-room.

Car Park – alternative arrangements

Just a reminder that the School car park will be out of use when we return on Tuesday 6th September. The School buses will still be able to access and exit the car park but please could we ask parents/guardians/relatives to use the Village Hall car park and not to block Bicton Lane. I’ve attached the letter below that was sent out at the end of term, just in case it didn’t make it home.

Car park letter

Thank you and enjoy the rest of the holidays.
