Gardening Day 28.04.18

Can you spare a few hours this Saturday morning on 28th April? If so, we would love you to join us at our first  gardening party of the year

We are hoping to paint the fence at the front of the Early Years playground (weather-permitting) and have a general tidy-up in the wildlife garden and flower beds. If you are able to spare a couple of hours between 10:00 and 1:00, please write your name(s) on the contact list in reception or speak to myself or Catherine Orrell.  We are trying to provide refreshments and we will let you know more details at the end of the week.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Weekly News 20th April 2018

It has been a lovely first week back and the children seem to have settled in quickly. Now that the weather is warming up, please can your child have suncream applied before coming to school and they may also want to bring a sun hat. Please can you also ensure that your child’s sweatshirt/cardigan is labelled with their name so that uniform can be matched up with the right owner if it is left on the field at break-times.

Disabled parking spaces

It is important that the disabled parking spaces are only used by adults with a disabled badge or where permission to use one of the spaces (because of mobility difficulties) has been given by Mrs Johnson.

Letters out this week

Parent lunch invite – Nursery and Class 1

Class 2 Forest School letter

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

Welcome to Mr Mavin

We are looking forward to Mr Mavin joining our school next week.  He will be teaching Class 4 alongside Mrs Thomas for the summer term and we are sure that he will enjoy being part of our school and getting to know all the children.

Year 4/5 swimming

Just a reminder that Years 4 and 5 will start their swimming sessions on Thursday for the next 5 weeks.  If you have not returned the permission slip and monies, we would be grateful if you could do so by Tuesday at the latest. Thank you.

We hope you have had a good Easter break and we look forward to hearing all the children’s news when we return to school on Monday 16th.

Condover Trip

Well done to all the children for their fantastic behaviour at Condover and thank you to the staff for giving up their time and making sure that the children had such a wonderful experience.  Hopefully the children will sleep well for you this evening!

Mrs Conde

Mrs Laura Conde has decided to take a break from teaching to spend time with her family and, as a result, will not be returning to teach Class 4.  I hope you will join us in thanking Mrs Conde for everything that she has contributed to the school over the past 10 years.

Children in Year 4 and 5 will start their swimming sessions (on Thursday 19th April) when we return after Easter.  There are still a few permission slips outstanding which we need returning on the first day back please.

Class 2 Weekly Update

English: We have continued with Read Write Inc this week. The children have been encouraged to stop and check their work regularly to make sure they have included the correct punctuation, they are trying their best with their handwriting at that their writing makes sense.

Maths: The children have continued with measurement this week, concentrating on weighing different objects. They have been using balancing scales to say statements such as “a water bottle weighs the same as 35 cubes”. We have weighed objects with non-standard units only.

Science: In Science this week, the children were excited to write their own alternative version of The Three Little Pigs. They were asked to include different materials for the houses and include adjectives describing their properties.

RE: In RE the children listened to and sequenced the Easter story, some children were challenged to write sentences about what was happening at different stages of the story.

Spellings: Spellings were given out last week to be tested on Friday 20th April 2018.

Homework: Miss Melville has given the children a piece of Maths homework to complete over the Easter holidays on measuring and Miss Neal has provided the children with some English homework about the Easter Bunny. Please could this be handed in on or before Friday 20th April 2018.
