Relationships and Sex Education – Years 4, 5 and 6

If you have not completed the online consent form for the Relationships and Sex Education sessions for Years 4, 5 and 6, a reminder will be sent out next week. We cannot start the sessions until we have recieved your consent.

Thank you if you have already completed the online form. If you would like to know more about the content being covered, the folders with all of the lesson plans are at the school office for you to look at. (Year 4 and 5 are covering the same content.)

Arthog update

We are really looking forward to our visit to Arthog next weekend and the weather forecast looks great!

If your child needs any medication during the visit, including travel sickness tablets for the return journey, we must have a medication consent form completed and returned. Ideally, we need the forms before Friday morning please, so that we can finalise our list of who will need medication while we are away.

Thank you to everyone who returned their forms this week.

We talked to children on Friday afternoon about what they will need in their rucksack for the beach, and stressed the need for them to help with packing, as well as answering any questions they had. If you or your child have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Arthog Reminder

Thank you for the the new bookings this week for our Year 5 / 6 visit to Arthog in June. Please see a reminder of the letter below, which was sent out last half term.

Arthog Parent Letter – January 2023

If you would like your child to attend, and you have not yet done so, we would be grateful if your could book their place on sQuid and pay a deposit.  Please note, we need to give Arthog our final numbers by Friday 5th May.

The gallery below gives you just a taste of the Arthog experience!

Rowan Gardening Project

Dear parents and carers,

Rowan Class is planning to build a garden outside our classroom door over the next few months.
Those of you who have been collecting at the end of the day have probably noticed the old tyres by our door.  We will turn these into raised beds as soon as we can.  The theme for our garden will be reusing and recycling.

Unfortunately, we need help.  We have very few things to get the project started.  We would love you to check your garages and sheds for things we could really use.

We need pea gravel for drainage.

We need old plywood for putting under the tyres so that we can move them easily.

We need compost for planting up tyres and other planters.  If you have any half open bags that you aren’t going to use, please send them our way.

A watering can would be handy if you have an old one we could refresh.

Some plants would be appreciated if you can spare any:  bulbs for perennials, small hardy succulents, bamboo, ferns, architectural plants like cordylines or phormiums,  strawberries etc.  Anything really that the children can use all year round for all sorts of purposes: art, science, English etc.  Plants should be relatively easy to look after.

We would appreciate large and interesting containers that you do not want anymore.  If you have a bucket full of holes, we’ll take it because we will be able to plant it up.

Finally, if you have unwanted exterior paints that we can use on recycled wood, or on the tyres, we can make use of it.

It  will be a fantastic project to get started and something that children can add to in subsequent years but we do need your help to begin.

Thanks in advance.

Best wishes,

Mr Harris.

Rowan Class Remote Learning 10.03.23

Dear Parents,

The activities we have suggested are to support recent work that your children have completed or are currently studying. Do not worry, if you do not have good internet access and cannot complete these assignments. If this is the case, read with your child, practise their times tables and take a picture of an amazing snowman!

Panathlon Bowling Success

I would just like to say a huge well done to the group of children who took part in the Panathlon bowling event this morning. They came second out of 11 schools taking part which is a superb effort! We had a great morning and the children came back with individual medals, as well as a trophy and certificate for our PE board in school. 🙂
