British Science Week

British Science Week takes place between 7th-16th March this year and the focus is ‘Change and Adapt’. Maple Class have been looking at ‘Amazing Animal Adaptations’! As a class, we discussed what the word adaptation means and we thought about all the animals that live in different habitats.
We then researched our chosen habitat and found out about all the adaptations that animals have in order to be well suited to their environment.

Here are some of our amazing animal adaptations pieces of work in progress!

Maple Class are Archaeologists!

As part of our Ancient Greece History topic for this term, we are exploring the question ‘How does an artefact tell us about ancient Greek life?’. Last week, we researched different types of Ancient Greek Pottery and their uses. We looked at the decoration on the pots to see what this could tell us about life in Ancient Greece. This week, we created our own mini archaeology dig! We used archaeological record sheets and an archaeology field diary to record, identify, describe and analyse our findings. We found some very important artefacts!

World Book Day!

Maple Class have had a very busy and fun World Book Day! In the morning, the children battled against each other for their favourite book character to be crowned the ultimate character champion! In Maths, the children had to design the floor plan for Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory using area and perimeter. This afternoon, the children enjoyed reading in crazy places! decorating a potato as a book character and spending some time reading with the children from Willow Class.
