Staffing Updates

We are delighted to announce that Mrs Erasmus and her husband welcomed a baby boy safely into the world on Sunday.  Baby Otto is doing well at home and we send them all our love at this joyful time.

We are sad to share that Mrs Thomas will be leaving us at Christmas.  Mrs Thomas has been at Bicton for almost 15 years and we would like to thank her for the hard work and dedication she has shown in her role.  We are currently recruiting for a class teacher for Birch and we will inform Birch parents of the successful appointment at the earliest opportunity.

Odd Socks Day

On Tuesday 12th November we will be marking Anti-Bullying week with an ‘Odd Socks Day’!  All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to school, it couldn’t be simpler!  You do not have to donate money to take part – the most important thing is the message of Odd Socks Day.  This Anti-Bullying Week’s theme is let’s ‘Choose Respect’ and bring an end to bullying which negatively impacts millions of young lives.
This year, we’ll empower children and young people to not resort to bullying, even when we disagree and remind adults to lead by example, online and offline.  Imagine a world where respect and kindness thrives — it’s not just a dream, it’s in the choices we make. Join us this Anti-Bullying Week and commit to ‘Choose Respect’. What will you choose?

Festive Pot Painting

Dear Friends,

We still have some spaces left for our festive pot painting evening at the Mission Church in Bomere Heath. Do not fear if your enthusiasm outweighs your skills! The evening will be hosted by a local artist, who will help us to do a lovely job, whatever our ability. There will be refreshments throughout, and the event is suitable for older children (over 12 years old). The finished pot will make a lovely present for a friend or relative.
To book a place, either phone Pat Hall on 01939 290637 or reply to this email, and I will pass your name on. The details are:
Wednesday, 20th November
7pm
The Mission Church in Bomere Heath
£12 per person (this includes the cost of the pot, paints and refreshments)
With thanks and blessings,

Spooky Disco

The first FOBs event of the year was a huge success! Thank you to all of the parent volunteers who made this wonderful event happen.  The children had a fabulous time and raised over £340 for the school – money that will go directly towards resources to support teaching and learning.  Thank you to our amazing community for making this happen.

Tag Rugby

A group of Year 5/6 children enjoyed a morning of Tag Rugby at the Corbet School in Baschurch.  They had a brilliant time and demonstrated mature sportsmanship and teamwork.  Well done everyone!

Dance Performances

Thank you to all the parents and carers who came to watch our PE dance performances.  We were very proud of the children to perform so confidently in front of such a large audience and to show such great coordination in their routines.

Attendance and Punctuality

We have been delighted to see a huge improvement in attendance this half term (96.2%) compared to the same half term last academic year (93.8%).

We have also seen a significant reduction in lates from 137 in Autumn 1 last year, to 57 this year! This is a brilliant effort from everyone and we are very grateful for your support.

Head of School Message

It has been a jam-packed final week of this half term and the staff and children are all ready for a break!

It has been lovely to see so many parents/carers in school for our parent drop-ins and to see the children’s PE dances this week.  I hope you enjoyed looking at the work the children have done so far this year.  I have been really impressed at some of the progress made by children over the last 8 weeks and it was lovely for teachers to be able to share that with you this week.
