Beanbag targets in Class 1

Class 1 have had a very busy morning outside testing their maths and physical development skills…..

Their task was to aim the beanbag into one of the 3 hoops which were worth 1, 2 and 3 points.  Each time they scored points they added bears to their pot.  The Year 1 children worked very hard to put all the scores into a table and at the end they added them up to find out who had the highest in each team.  We all had lots of fun throwing the beanbags and trying to score as many points as possible!

Well done Class 1!

Parent helpers for Class 1

We would be very grateful if any parents/grandparents/carers in Class 1 could spare some time each week to come into school to listen to readers.  If you are able to please speak to myself or Mrs Conde to arrange any days you can do each week.

Many thanks for you help,

Mrs Thomas and Mrs Conde

School Council

Congratulations to the children who have been voted for as the new members of the School Council.  Class 5 have a representative from both Year 5 and Year 6 to support younger children during discussions and work alongside Mrs Johnson who they will be meeting with in the next couple of weeks.

Well done to:

Yuji (Class 1)

Charlotte D (Class 2)

Jack B (Class 3)

Polly (Class 4)

Lauren W (Class 5 – Year 5)

Oliver (Class 5 – Year 6)

Bus

For younger children who travel home on the school bus, please can you remember to write in your child’s/children’s home-link books if they are going on the bus or are being collected.  If there is no note in your child’s book they will remain at reception until they are collected, as we cannot allow children to go home on the bus if we are not certain that there is somebody there to meet them.  Older children are generally good at remembering  if they are going home on the bus. Thank you for your support with this.

Please can all reply slips be returned by Tuesday 30th at the very latest, as we need to start arranging for photographs to be taken and we cannot do so until all slips have been returned.  If you do not wish your child to appear in the calendar, please can you still return the slip by Tuesday.

Parents’ Evenings

The online booking system for appointments will ‘open’ on the website on Monday.

Punctuality

We have noticed an increase in the number of children who are arriving after registration in the morning. Please could we ask that your child is in School for 8:55, as the registers are completed as soon as children enter the classroom.

Many thanks.

Mrs Johnson

Resources to help your child to learn at home.

Your child will soon have a Letters and Sounds phonics mat to use at home. This can be used when reading to help decode words and for when your child practises writing letters and words at home.

There are several good websites and schemes to use at home to support Letters and Sounds, such as Alphablocks on CBeebies, Phonics Play and www.twinkl.co.uk. I have added links to Class One Resources page so that you can use programmes and games with your child at home. Ask you child to show you things, such as the Numtums clips and the Alphablocks letters and sounds clips.
