Book bag system

As some of you may have noticed this morning, to save a little time we have changed the system for the book bags.

Your child can now put their own book bag straight into their tray.

If there is a note in their home-link book for us to read, please put the book into the red basket next to the trays. If you have something for the office, for example dinner money or a form, please ensure that this is in a named envelope and put it in the green basket.

Grow A Pound – Thank You

Thank you to FOBs for visiting our assembly this morning to present prizes to the winning children and overall winning class.  This has been a fantastic fundraising event for everyone involved and raised over £1,200! The children said a big thank you to FOBs this morning for organising the event and for the money raised for school.  Have  a look at the photo gallery to see the children being presented with their prizes in assembly.

Class 4 Parents’ Lunch

Class 4 parents and grandparents are invited to join their child/grandchild for lunch any day between Tuesday and Friday on the second week back after half-term.  A letter has been sent out with more details and we hope to see as many of you as possible.

Arthog

Please can any outstanding medical forms for Arthog be returned on the first day back after half term.

Calpol

If you haven’t yet returned the letter giving permission for Calpol to be administered to your child, and you wish us to do so, please can you return the letter on the first day back after half term; this will ensure that our records can be updated and finalised.

Class 5 Half-term homework

Following on from our work on biographical writing, you will be pleased to know that you will be writing your autobiography when we come back to school; we know how keen many of you were to talk about your own life!

Use what you learnt when writing a biography, to make your writing interesting, by including memorable events, as well as including general information about your family, hobbies, pets, places you have lived, etc.  You can use the ideas below to help you make notes but you don’t need to write your autobiography in full, as we will be doing this in literacy lessons in school.

Class 4 Half Term Homework

Half Term Homework – Due in Friday 5th June 2015

The first week back after half term is Healthy Eating Week. With this in mind, I would like you to do some homework linked to this.

You can choose to do one of the options from the list below (you only have to do one but you are welcome to do more if you wish)!

Make sure you bring your homework into school by Friday 5th June as we may present our homework to one another.

Cookery

 

Design a healthy meal and cook it with help from   your grown ups. Remember to stay safe in the kitchen. Make a menu for your   guests and serve their food to them at the table. You can bring the menu you   have made into school. Don’t forget to wash up afterwards!

Music/dance

 

 Write and perform a rap   about healthy eating. You could even think of some dance moves to go with it!

Writing

 

 Write a food diary over   one week. Remember to record everything you eat and drink!

ICT

 

 Make a short presentation about your favourite   healthy foods.

Question

 

 Should junk foods be   banned for all children? You could write your answer in sentences or draw it   in a cartoon.

Measures and making beanstalks

Yesterday Class 1 went to the woods again, this time to collect sticks and use them to talk about measures (length).  They were set the following tasks: To find the longest stick they could find and see where it measured up to on themselves.  Then they collected more sticks and ordered them from longest to shortest.  Some children were given extra challenges to find a stick as long as their arm, 2 sticks the same length and a stick that was 20cm.  They all worked really well together.

Today we used the sticks to make them look like beanstalks using a  range of materials. The children all made a fantastic effort.

Jack and the Beanstalk

Today Class 1 went to the woods and listened to the story ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.  They then worked with a partner to mime one scene from the story for the other children to guess the scene.  They all worked really well and thought carefully about using good body language and facial expressions.
