Holiday Book Thank you!

Dear Parents/Carers

We would just like to say a big thank you for your help and support in helping your children complete their holiday books. We have really enjoyed looking at them this morning and have been really impressed with the amount of time and effort that has been spent on collecting information, printing off photos and writing about the things they have done.

If children did not bring their books in, they are welcome to share them with the class another time during this week.

Homework Policy

The staff have reviewed and updated our homework policy over the summer term which has been discussed, amended and agreed by our Standards and Curriculum committee governors in a recent meeting.  We have taken into account the responses received in our summer term questionnaire and hope that you will find the policy helpful.  If you have any questions after reading the policy, please do not hesitate to speak to myself or your child’s class teacher/s when we return to school.  The policy can be found on our public page or by clicking here Homework Policy August 2015.

Clubs

Some of the after-school clubs will be changing in September and we will update the website as soon as these have been arranged when we return to school.  The clubs shown for the first week back from Tuesday to Friday are up-to-date but some may change from the second week onward i.e. Games/Modelling Club and Sewing Club may need to change to a different day.  Please remember to check the website for clubs information.

From September, we will also display a list of each week’s clubs in the noticeboard by the main entrance.

Uniform

Please could we remind you to label all of your child’s uniform, P.E. kit and footwear for when we return to school.  This would be a great help to staff and children and hopefully will prevent too many items going missing next term.

Enjoy the rest of the holidays!

Good Bye and Good Luck

Over the summer holidays, Mrs Clair Barker has received confirmation of her place on the School Direct Teacher Training programme and will sadly not be returning to Bicton School in September.  On behalf of everyone at Bicton, we would like to say a huge thank you to Clair for all her hard work over the past few years and for everything she has contributed to the life of the school. We will all miss her greatly but wish her the very best of luck in what promises to be a very bright future ahead of her as a teacher.

If you would like to send Clair a card when we return to school, we will make sure that these are passed on to her.

Thank you – Defibrillator fundraising update

Our fund raising efforts for a defibrillator have received a huge boost this week! Many thanks to Holy Trinity Church, Bicton for donating the proceeds of yesterday’s coffee morning; the event raised just over £200 which is a fantastic amount.

Thank you also to the trustees of the Brethren’s Meeting Hall on Holyhead Road from whom we have received a donation of £200.  These generous donations mean we now have almost £1,000 towards the cost of the defibrillator and outside cabinet so we should hopefully be able to raise the rest of the funds in the autumn term and get the equipment ordered.

Many thanks

Mrs Johnson

On behalf of all the staff, thank you for your kind words, cards and gifts at the end of term.

Thank you also for the comment forms, in response to the end-of-year reports, that were returned on the final day of term.  We really do value any comments you would like to make so please feel free to post any comment forms to school or keep the form safe until we return to school in September.

If you need to get in touch with school, regarding any queries over the holidays, the emails are checked most days and we will endeavour to respond as soon as possible.

We hope you have all enjoyed the first week of the holidays so far and wish you a wonderful summer!

Thank You Message From Mr Davies

Mr Davies called in to school with a card, at the end of term, and asked if we could post his message on the website for you all to see:

To all the Staff, children, Parents and Governors of Bicton School,

Thank you all for your generous, kind and entertaining thoughts during the assembly.  I wanted to say more but, unusually, was stopped in my tracks by an emotional tsunami!

Thank you again for what you did.

I will miss Bicton.

I will miss you all.

Enjoy the break.

Best wishes

Mark

Fairy Tale Day

Class 1 had a lovely ‘Fairy Tale Day’ yesterday. They came into school in costumes and all looked fantastic!  Thank you for all your efforts with this.  We did lots of fun activities related to some of the fairy tales we have looked at this term, including baking and decorating gingerbread men, making crowns, a treasure hunt looking for the King of Fairyland’s lost golden coins and designing and making outfits for princes and princesses.  Here are some pictures of the day….
