Our Big Dig!

Today the children in Class 4 built their own archaeological digs, burying evidence from the past in layers of earth. They then had great fun uncovering a layer at a time to discover what another group had buried.

Class 4 Homework

Dear Parents/Carers,

Tonight children have taken home Maths homework to be brought back to school by Wednesday 30th September.

For the groups finding 2-digit number bonds to 100, I have asked children not to use the method modelled on the sheet but to use a number line and count on to 100. We have covered this method in class this week.

If there are any queries please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Foster.

Thank you for your support,

Mrs Chadwick

Maths in Class 2

Here are a few pictures from our maths lesson this morning. We were practising ordering numbers to 20. Each child in the class was given a number and had to work with other children in the class to get themselves cheap tramadol 50mg online into the correct order. We then tested each other, asking what is one more or one less than a given number.

A busy week in Class One

This week the children in Class One have enjoyed reading the story ‘Funny Bones’ by Janet and Allan Ahlberg.   They have talked about the story, discussed their favourite character, drawn skeletons, made skeletons and labelled the human body.

In phonics Reception children have been practising s/a/t/p/ and learning i/n/m/d.

Year 1 children have practised j/v/w/x/y/z .

The children have been practising segmenting and blending words with these letters and enjoyed using some of the phonics games here to help support their learning – http://www.iboard.co.uk/teacher/bictonclass1/1

In Maths we have been busy counting , ordering and recognising numbers.  The children have used The Gingerbread Man Topmarks game to help them – http://www.topmarks.co.uk/learning-to-count/gingerbread-man-game  This game works really well on tablets and would be fun to play at home too.

Parking

Please could we remind all adults to only use the designated parking spaces, when parking around the island at the front of the school, and not block other cars in; there have been several occasions in the last week where parents and staff have been blocked in which has prevented them from getting their cars out and making them late for work or meetings.  Please could you also refrain from blocking other cars in when parking at the side of the school.  If the school car park is full, please use the village hall car park instead.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Class 4 Science

Today Class 4 spent the afternoon exploring sound through a range of practical activities.  They were learning about sound travelling as vibrations.  They had lots of fun trying all the different activities, which included a balloon hearing aid and watching sound waves travelling though water.

PE lesson

Class 2 enjoyed their PE lesson today, we were focussing on the different shapes we can make with our bodies and how to move around the room gracefully. The children were then given pieces of ribbon to try and make different shapes in the air and make up a short routine. They had lots of fun and came up with some fantastic ideas.
