Well done at Shropshire Sings

Shropshire Sings

Well done to all the children who performed at Shropshire Sings on Wednesday evening. Miss Barratt and I were extremely proud of the effort the children put into their singing and also their impeccable behaviour – we are very proud of you and you were super ambassadors for our school!

Thank you to all the parents and family members who came to watch and were such an enthusiastic audience.

Miss Barratt and Mrs Johnson

Bug hunting!!!!

We went to the woods today and were very lucky with the weather! The children had lots of fun hunting for bugs and seeing them in their own habitat. We then collected lots of leaves, sticks and twigs, ready to make our very own ‘bug hotels’ next Tuesday.

Telling the Time

We have been recapping on telling the time today. Year 1 children have been focussing on telling the time to the nearest hour/half hour and year 2 have been telling the time to the nearest quarter hour.

Here is a game we played at the beginning of the lesson:

Making Gingerbread Men

In English this week we have been reading The Gingerbread Man. The children have learned the story by heart and written a story map, yesterday we made gingerbread men, reading and following instructions. This will lead onto the children writing their own set of instructions and looking at imperative (bossy) verbs. We also had a sensory spice test where the children smelt lots of different spices and decided which they liked and didn’t like.

Area Sports

Well done to all the children who competed in the Area Sports at Bomere Heath on Tuesday morning.  Thankfully the rain held off and we witnessed some fantastic achievements – well done to the girls’ relay team who made it through to the final.

Spaghetti Maths

Please could you let the Office staff know as soon as possible if you would like your child to sign up to the next block of Spaghetti Maths sessions.  Depending on who is interested, we will then decide when to run the next block and Jonny can decide the content of the sessions i.e. whether to rerun the current sessions or deliver ‘new’ sessions.

Data Collection Sheets

Next week we will be sending home children’s end-of-year reports including the data collection sheets.  Please can you check that the information on the data collection sheet is correct, amend as required and return to the school office as soon as possible.  Thank you.

Head Lice

We have had a couple of reports of head lice so please could we ask that you check your child’s hair and treat as required.  If you are unsure of current treatments, please speak to Mrs Jones or Mrs Neal at the school office.  Thank you in advance for your support.
