Online Safety Session for Parents

We are holding an online safety session for parents in school on Tuesday 7th November from 2:00 – 3:00.  A letter with more information will be sent out the first week back.

Parents’ Evening

Please note that the parents’ evening date for Classes 2,3,4 and 5 has changed as we have realised that the original date is the same date as the Christmas lights switch on and we know that lots of families may want to attend this. The new date is Tuesday 14th November from  9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and the online booking system will be open when we return to school after half term..         .

Contacting School

If you telephone school and you are put through to the answering machine, you are welcome to leave a message as the messages are checked as soon as staff return to the main office.

Arthog Visit 2018

Thank for the response so far to next year’s visit to Arthog.  If you have not yet returned the permission slip and deposit, and you would like your child to take part in the visit, please can you do so by the end of the first week back after the half-term break. Thank you.

Absence from School for Medical/Dental Appointments

If your child is absent from school, or is arriving/leaving during the school day to attend a dental/medical appointment, we require a copy of any letters/appointment cards for our attendance records.  We are more than happy to photocopy these at school for you.

Thank you for all your support this half term and we look forward to seeing all the children again on Monday 30th October.

Homework for half term

Homework for this half term is on Purple Mash.  Children who felt they would not have access to computers over half term have been given paper copies.  They have been asked to write a postcard about a visit to Stonehenge.  They have studied and researched Stonehenge in their History lesson this week.

Final Forest School for Year 5

We had a lovely final Forest School session on Wednesday. The children collected lots of sticks for the fire and then enjoyed a hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows. I have really enjoyed having year 5 for Forest School and thank you all for being such a great experience!

Class 3 Weekly Update

English: We have continued our work on traditional tales this week. The Year 2 children have been using this to help them learn about command sentences and the Year 3 children have been using this to help them learn about how to use inverted commas correctly.

Maths: We have been learning about multiplication this week and have done some work on arrays. We read a story called ‘365 penguins’ and used this to inspire us to organise the penguins into rows (arrays). We have practised drawing arrays and matching them to a multiplication sentence.

RE: We have finished our work on Islam by thinking about Ramadan and Eid as well as celebrations we enjoy celebrating. We have thought about how these are similar/different to the Christian celebrations.

We also had a lovely lesson on the Christmas story which the Year 5/6 children lead for us – this was in preparation for next terms topic.

PE: The children have continued their games lesson this week.

We have also spent lots of time this week preparing for our Celebration Assembly! I just want to say a very big well done to all the children in Class 3 for working so hard and performing so well!

Have a lovely half term everyone.
