Class 4 baking

Class 4 will be baking biscuits as part of the ‘Royal wedding day’ activities tomorrow.  If your child has any allergies that we are not aware of can you please let me know in the morning.

Many thanks,

Mrs Thomas

Class 2 Forest School

The children had fun in Forest School yesterday morning, we had lots of fun in a muddy puddle! Next week is Class 2’s last session in Forest School, the children are very excited to have a fire and marshmallows.

Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

We had a fantastic day out at Cheshire Ice Cream Farm today! The children enjoyed seeing the animals, playing in Daisy’s Garden playground, sieving for Gemstones and exploring in the sand and water area. We all loved our delicious ice cream!

Well done for your brilliant behaviour today Class 2, you made me very proud!

Trip to Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

Just a little reminder we are going to Cheshire Ice Cream Farm tomorrow (Tuesday 15th May).  We are expecting lovely weather so the children will need to have sun cream applied before school and bring a sun hat with them please.

We will carry our bags with us all day so a comfortable rucksack/bag would be helpful to carry their lunch and water bottles. Cheshire Ice cream Farm has advised the children to bring a change of clothes for after the sand and water play but please ensure all children come to school in their school uniform.

We will leave after registration and will be returning before the end of the school day.

Thank you for your support!

Miss Edwards

New Logo

Your child may have already mentioned that we unveiled our new School and Nursery logo last week in whole-school worship.  We are very proud of the new logo which is a combination of the children’s ideas, and which governors and staff agreed summed up everything special about our School and Nursery.  A special well done to Alana, Daisy and Eva whose designs were combined into the final design.

The uniform colour will remain royal blue and School Shop Direct will be changing the uniform over the next few weeks. Children may continue to wear the current school sweatshirts until you need to purchase new, as we do not expect everyone to buy new uniform. We have stressed this to the children in case they tell you otherwise!

Parents’ Lunch

Thank you to Nursery and Class 1 parents and other family members who have been able to join us for lunch over the past couple of weeks. We are looking forward to Class 3 parents joining us next week.

The Kitchen will organise dates for Class 2 and Years 4 and 5 after half-term.  As in previous years, parents and family members of Year 6s will be invited to join us for lunch after the Leavers Assembly on the last day of the summer term.

Next week…

We would like to wish the Year 6s and Year 2s good luck in their SATs next week. They have worked really hard in the run-up to SATs and we know many children are actually looking forward to the tests!

Next Friday is our Royal Wedding celebration day and we are looking forward to seeing everyone wearing something red/white/blue. The Kitchen are also serving a special Royal Wedding lunch.

Reminder to Year 6 Parents

Thank you if you have already returned the application form for secondary school transport. All letters need to be returned by 25th May please.

Letters out this week

Class 3 parents’ lunch

Have a nice weekend.

Class 5 Update

English

This week Class 5 have written diary entries as Mister Tom.  They focussed on chapters 8 and 9 of the story and looked for clues in the text about what Mister Tom was feeling or thinking.  They then used their notes to write a diary entry.

Maths

Year 5 have continued their work on decimals this week, particularly focussing on addition and subtraction of decimals.

Year 6 have done lots of revision ready for SATs next week.  They have revised finding the mean, reading data on line and pie charts, algebra and decimals and percentages.

History

This week the children completed their exhibitions on Sir Winston Churchill.  They worked in small groups to present their information using power point presentations, photographs and their own writing.  They enjoyed sharing their exhibitions with each other at the end of today’s lesson.

Class 4 weekly update

English – We have been gathering and inferring information on a key character in the story and supporting ideas with evidence from the text.  We then planned and wrote a chapter from another character’s point of view.  The children were asked to think about using lots of detail to extend their writing- e.g. adventurous adjectives/verbs/adverbs, alliteration, similes etc.

Maths – Year 4 children have been looking at using rounding to estimate money and using the four operations to solve problems.  Year 5 children have been looking at decimal sequences and multiplying/dividing by 10, 100 and 1,000.

Topic – Understanding the religion of Ancient Greece and finding key information about the Greek Gods and Goddesses and what they were responsible for.  The children completed fact files using their own research.

R.E.- Looking at artwork based on the Pentecost and completing a piece of artwork based on their knowledge of the story.

Spellings – to be tested on Friday 18th May

11-5-18

Homework – in books.  Multiplying decimals or solving money problems.

Have a great weekend!
