Head of School Message

Dear parents/carers,

We have had a wonderfully busy week in school this week and I was so proud to show our school and pupils to the SIAMs inspector who visited our school on Thursday.  We will receive the report in 3 weeks time and this will then be shared.  Thank you to the parents who took time to speak to the inspector and those who sent in kind messages of support – we are so grateful for your kindness.

Willow Class enjoyed their first Stay, Read and Play session! I know it is not always easy to attend these things in the middle of your working week but we were delighted that so many grownups were able to share this time with the children.  Hopefully this will become a regular fixture on the calendar!

There are 4 places remaining on iRock.  We are delighted that so many children have signed up and we can’t wait to watch your performances! The first session is on Friday 6th February (or the following week in Y6).  Please follow the link if you would like to sign up https://www.irockschool.com/enrol

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Mavin

Punctuality

We understand that mornings can sometimes be challenging, and occasional lateness can happen. However, when children arrive late, it can be unsettling for them and disruptive to the start of their school day. Arriving on time helps ensure they can settle in calmly, take part in morning routines, and begin learning with their classmates.

If you are finding mornings difficult for any reason, please do let us know—we are always here to help wherever we can.

Eisteddfod

Does your child like to perform? Would you child like to win a rosette, prize money and a cup?

Young Voices 2026!

Recently, children from Bicton had a fantastic time taking part in the Young Voices choir, joining thousands of other children to sing together in an amazing atmosphere. After lots of practise in school, they really sang their hearts out on the night and it was lovely to see how confident and proud they felt. The children were absolutely delighted to meet one of the guest artists, Otti, who came over to chat to them during the break, which was a real highlight of the evening. It was a very long journey home but everyone agreed it was a brilliant experience and one the children will remember for a long time.

Vision in Action

George walked home last week from school and he was upset about the amount of rubbish on the roadside and the effect on nature. So he asked to tidy it up. At the weekend, we filled 3 bin bags in a short space of time and made things look much better. We plan to go further next time.

What an amazing way to look after our planet and make a difference to the people living in our local area. Well done George!
