Dear parents/carers,
This has been an absolutely jam-packed penultimate week of term with lots to enjoy and celebrate.
The week started with our transition day where all the children had the morning in their new classes or with their new classmates. The Year 6s spent a day or two at their new secondary schools and there were lots of nerves and excitement all round! We have had very positive reports from all the children and lots of excitement as they look forward to being in a new year group and the challenges that will bring. We were also delighted to welcome our 12 new Reception children into Willow Class. They had a lovely morning in their new classroom, exploring all the exciting areas and being shown the ropes by the ‘old’ Reception children. I am sure you will join us in welcoming them and their families to our community in September.
Our annual Celebration Assembly on Thursday was a real joy as we came together to celebrate the children’s achievements and reflect on the last year. A particular well done to Poppy in Year 6 who won the Jenna Byrne Outstanding Achievement Award. Year 6 also enjoyed a brilliant afternoon in the Quarry and at Hickorys, spending precious time together before they go on to their next adventure.
We welcomed 3 ex-pupils to school this week for their Y10 work experience. Charlie, Izzy and Alyssa were extremely helpful and quickly became very popular with the children! It has been a pleasure to see how they are all continuing to flourish.
Here’s a quick overview next week:
Monday 13th July – Y6 Spirituality Day with Reverend Hannah
Wednesday 15th July – ‘Net Zero Day’ – all children to wear old clothes and trainers. Further information here.
Friday 17th July 10am – Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly followed by parent lunch.
Tuesday 1st/Wednesday 2nd September – PD Days. School closed to children
Thursday 3rd September – First day back at school for children.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs Mavin
