Foot size investigation

Thank you for providing the Class with shoes to sort, wrapping paper and boxes this week.

On Tuesday the children found lots of different sized shoes, they ordered them in length order.

Some children started to think about who the shoes belonged too, some children thought the biggest shoes would belong to the tallest person.

This led onto the class thinking about how they could investigate and find out.

We decided to measure the height of each child in the class, make a footprint and cut it out.  From there the children were able to order the footprints and work out if the tallest children in the class really did have the biggest feet.!

Our investigation revealed that the tallest person in our class didn’t not have the biggest feet.

Maths

This week we have linked quite a lot of our Maths to this weeks story – ‘Cinderella’.

Children have had to make necklaces using a certain amount of beads, find gems that have been buried for Cinderella’s tiara, work out how many guests can sit at each table at the wedding and we also looked at different ways to represent 6 using a ten frame.

Next week we will be doing more Maths work using the story based on length and height.   If you have any old shoes / wrapping paper / cuboid shaped boxes that you would be happy to donate, please send them in.

Since returning to school the children have continued to revise Set 1 sounds.  We have focused on the first 10, and used these to form CVC words.

Some children have looked at some trickier digraphs and even a trigraph in Set 2. They have then had a go a writing words with these sounds in and thinking of and saying a sentence.

Nativity and Christmas Concert Performances

Dear Parents/Carers,

The update on the Nativity and Christmas Concert performances is that we will be putting them on in January and we will let you know the dates as soon as they have been arranged. The children have worked hard to prepare for them and we would like to celebrate their hard work, even if it is after the Christmas celebrations. Thank you for your support .
