Hello everyone,

I hope you have had a good week and are keeping well. There are a few bits of information in this week’s newsletter and I thank you in advance for taking the time to read it.

Online Safety: A Parent’s Workshop

This online webinar will cover the following topics:

● Online safety in school: A discussion on how online safety is taught in school through resources Project Evolve.

● Safe use of online games and platforms: A look at popular platforms and games such as Roblox, Minecraft and Tiktok

● Managing devices: Looking at how to set up parental controls on devices such as tablets, phones and games consoles

● Social Media: Top tips and printout guides on TikTok, Twitter, Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram

● Educating our children: free software and resources to support parents

 The session will be repeated on Tuesday 15th February 4pm – 5pm 

Trading cards in school

Your child may have mentioned that we have talked to them about not bringing trading cards e.g. Pokemon cards, to school. We are still trying to limit the amount of belongings brought in from home, whilst also trying to return to some sort of normality for the children. Children have been told that trading cards can only be brought into school on Fridays and they should only be shared/traded etc during morning and lunchtime breaks and NOT taken into classrooms. Thank you for your support with this.

Ten days until Forest Church!

Dear Friends around Severn Loop,

I hope this finds you well?! Just a quick reminder that our next Forest Church is on Sunday 6th February, 3pm at Albrighton Church and farm. It’s goijg to be a sheep encounter / tree planting mash-up! I’ll send details next week and look forward to seeing you there.

Weekly News 21.01.22

Hello everyone,

Thank you to everyone who has arranged a PCR test for their child, if they had one of the 3 main COVID symptoms, and for regularly testing using LFD tests  as requested. We have had several positive cases in school over the past fortnight so by carrying out testing you are helping reduce the risk of transmission.

Music Lessons

In school we are pleased to be working with Shropshire Music Service to offer small-group and individual lessons on Keyboard, Violin, Brass and Drums. Shropshire Music Service are a non-profit council organisation dedicated to providing high quality music education for the county’s young people.  The lessons are not free, but substantial reductions in the cost are available for those in challenging financial circumstances. SMS also offer affordable instrument hire for most instruments, along with opportunities to perform in musical groups.  You can enrol your children using this link, or search Shropshire Music Service to find out more.

Covid reminders – updated 05.01.22

Hello everyone,

I hope you are keeping safe and well and that you had a good Christmas and New Year.

Please see below our latest Covid-19 risk assessment and we thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. Please note this was written before the changes to PCR testing were issued today (Wednesday 5th) but our procedures remain the same.

Remember...if a pupil has symptoms they should not attend and must get a test. Also, if a parent or sibling tests positive, pupils should not attend until they have also had a test and received a negative test result. This will reduce the risk of transmission and help us keep Covid out of school and nursery – thank you.

Bicton COVID-19 Risk Assessment V23 04.01.2022

We ask that all children have a lateral flow test before returning to school or nursery this week. This will help us to keep all our pupils, staff and families safe by helping to identify any asymptomatic cases and reducing any risk of transmission.

If you do not have any lateral flow tests at home, we can provide you with a test to carry out at the start of the day on Thursday. Providing your child does not test positive, they can then come into school or nursery and they will not be ‘marked’ as late on this occasion.
