Safer Schools Update

As I shared in my newsletter last week, we were really pleased with such a positive response to the Safer Schools survey.

Some parents/carers were concerned about vehicles parking around the island which causes a hazard to both pedestrians (especially children) and other vehicles. We ask you not to park around the island, to support us as a school in keeping everyone safe.

Concerns were also raised about traffic on Bicton Lane and the absence of a pedestrian crossing. This is an issue at most schools and, as a public highway, schools have no authority or jurisdiction. However, as a school we will continue to include road safety training in our curriculum.

Please see an update below from Ian Bartlett – Safer Schools Officer at Shropshire Council.

Congratulations to Bicton CE Primary School and Nursery on maintaining the Safer School accreditation. Mrs Johnson recently held a Safer School meeting at the school and it was well supported by pupils. A thorough meeting, covering all aspects of the security/safety process. This included a pro-active approach to security/safety, consultation with parents/carers/pupils through surveys and feedback, reflecting on any school issues and planning for the future. Overwhelmingly good feedback from the parent/carer and pupil surveys, including both constructive and lovely observations. It was a positive meeting and the pupils were really involved and contributed to the meeting – excellent work.

In recognition of the school’s responsible approach to security, safety and safeguarding, the school was presented with an updated Safer School certificate and a future meeting is planned for summer 2025.

Forest Church Sunday 7th July

Forest Church Pimhill July 2024

Dear Friends,

Please feel warmly invited to come along to Forest Church on Sunday 7th – we will be meeting at Pimhill Barn for an afternoon in nature. There will be a couple of crafts and some summer games as well. Details below:
To get there, take the A528 to Wem. Go through Albrighton, and after a couple of miles there will be a right turn, signposted to Pimhill Barn at Lea Hall. Take that, and then further down the lane there is a left turn, which is signposted- take the turn and follow the lane up, until you reach the house. Bear left, driving past the house and dovecote on your right, and park. Do bring a picnic tea, and please leave dogs at home on this occasion.
Please be assured that there is access to some (very beautiful) shelter if it’s raining, there is also a toilet and facilities for us to provide you with a hot drink. But we remain hopeful for a dry afternoon!
Love and blessings,
Hannah x
