We regret to inform you that the Local Authority have been unable to repair our heating today, therefore we have no option than to remain closed on Thursday 14th December.

The engineers are doing everything possible, but at this moment we cannot guarantee being open on Friday 15th December.

The Christmas Concert, which was due to be held on Thursday evening will unfortunately have to be postponed.

The carol service for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service at Barnabas is still going ahead this evening at 7pm.

We will keep you posted via the school website and the council website.

We are closing at 1:00 pm today, Wednesday 13th, as we do not have heating or hot water.  We are still serving school lunch and you can pick your child up at any time before then.  If we are unable to get the heating back on for tomorrow, we will put a post on the school website and the Council website to let you know.

We thank you for your support during what has been a very challenging week!

We will be open on Wednesday as normal, however Breakfast Club will be starting at 8:00am to allow us time to grit the car park and paths again if necessary. Please take extra care entering and exiting the school site.

Children may bring wellies incase we get chance to go out on the field at lunchtime.

It is Christmas lunch tomorrow and Sue has asked that all monies can be paid up to date tomorrow, please.

After speaking to some of our governors and following guidance received from Shropshire Council, Bicton School and Nursery will be closed on Tuesday 12th December.  Although several staff and volunteers have spent several hours this morning attempting to clear the site as much as possible, we cannot guarantee the safety of families and staff travelling to and from the site. We have therefore made the decision now, to allow parents sufficient time to make other arrangements.

The Christmas concert (Classes 3,4,5) on Tuesday evening is also cancelled.

U11s Football Success

Well done to the Year 5/6 boys who played in the U11s football tournament on Wednesday evening. They topped their group, winning 2, drawing one and losing just one match, and will now progress to the next round after Christmas.

Choir Events

Well done to all the children in the choir who have performed so well in recent events. I heard they sounded amazing this morning at the Co-op and they were a credit to our school last week at Adcote School. Just a reminder that some children in the choir have been asked to sing at St Chad’s on Monday morning and also at the Fire Service Carol Service next Wednesday evening.

Christmas Performances

With the early closure today, because of the adverse weather conditions, we were not able to send the letter out regarding the arrangements for next week. Children need to be at school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:15pm please. The doors will open at 5:15 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and FOBs will be serving refreshments before the concert and during the interval on each evening. They will also be selling raffle tickets for the hampers at the Nativity in Church and the concerts in the school hall.

Snow Closure

Please keep an eye on the website on Sunday and Monday as we may have to close school if the weather conditions pose a risk to parents driving to and from school and also if a number of staff are unable to travel to school. We know that many parents struggled to get to school today for the early closure and some staff took in excess of 3 hours to get home. We will consider all the factors before making a decision whether to open on Monday, and also if we need to close early, and we thank you in advance for your understanding and support.  Please see below for further information.

Please can children bring wellies to school on Monday (Class 1 have wellies already) as the children will be able to go on the field to enjoy the snow, if we are open.

Finally…

On behalf of all the staff, thank you for your support this week. It has been a very busy week and the children have been a credit to our school whilst the Ofsted inspectors were with us and also when we visited the pantomime. Our Ofsted report will be published after Christmas.
