Thank you

On behalf of all the staff, thank you for your messages of support via email and in person following the publication of our Ofsted report.  Our strong parent partnership is very important to us so any suggestions or questions you have will be gratefully received.

If you do have any concerns about the inspection report, please do not hesitate to speak to me.

Please can children in Years 3 and 4 remember to bring a coat on Monday, as it is their next Stepping Out road safety session. Thank you

After-school clubs

If your child is staying to after-school clubs, it is vital that school or nursery are informed.  Please write this in your child’s home-school link book, tell a member of staff or telephone the office. This is part of our safeguarding procedures and prevents us having to contact you to ask why your child has not been collected. Many thanks.

School Council Meeting

Following our Ofsted report, Mrs Foster met with the School Council today to find out children’s views about our School.  They had many positive things to say about what they enjoy about their lessons. This includes supporting each other if things are a bit tricky, the fun and practical lessons and adults ensuring everyone’s ideas are listened to. Some of the things they said they would like to do more of or change are: varying the timetable to include subject weeks e.g. art and science, more opportunities for older children to work alongside younger children and children having the opportunity to plan their own activities. One of the Year 6s asked if we could have suggestion boxes for the rest of the school to share their ideas so these will be introduced in Worship next week.

If your child has any ideas, please ask them to write it down and pop it in one of the suggestion boxes. Thank you for your continued support.

Parent Governor Election

Following last week’s recruitment procedures for a parent governor, the number of nominations received matched the number of vacancies so there is no need for a ballot. We are pleased to inform you that Mrs Caroline Bailey has been re-elected as a parent governor and we thank Caroline for giving up her time to take on this worthwhile and essential role.

Sickness Absence

Just a reminder that if your child is absent from school due to sickness or diarrhoea, they should not return to school until 48 hours after their last bout of illness.  Thank you.

Condover Payment

Please can all outstanding monies due for the forthcoming Year 3/4 visit to Condover be paid by the end of next week.  Medical forms will be sent out next week and a parent information meeting will be arranged for after the half-term break. Thank you.

Stepping Out Road Safety Sessions

Just a reminder that children in Years 3 and 4 will need to bring a coat to school on Monday 22nd January, as they have the first of their Stepping Out road safety sessions. Thank you.

Well Done and Thank You

Well done to all the children in Classes 1 to 5 for their fantastic performances in the Nativity and Christmas concerts over the past 2 weeks. Their effort and enthusiasm was wonderful to see and we are so proud of all the children. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and watch and for making the events so enjoyable.

Ofsted Report

Children have been given a letter today following our recent Ofsted inspection.  You can read our report here Bicton CofE Primary School and Nursery Inspection Report December 2017 which will be published on the Ofsted website next week.  Please do not hesitate to speak to me if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support.

Punctuality

We have noticed an increase in the number of children arriving at school late. The bell rings at 8:55 a.m. for the start of the school day and registration takes place between 8:55 and 9:00 a.m. Pupils arriving after 9:00 a.m. will be marked as late and persistent lateness may result in parents/guardians being contacted by the School’s Education Welfare Officer.

Special Menu – Thursday 18th January

The school kitchen will be serving a special Winter Warmer lunch this Thursday.

Parking

Please could adults refrain from parking on Bicton Lane on the school entrance as this is causing a safety hazard. Thank you.

Head Lice

We have been made aware that there are a couple of cases of head lice in school at the moment. Could we please ask that you check your child’s/children’s hair carefully and use appropriate treatment if you find that your child is affected before they return to school. There are leaflets available at the Office with the latest information on how to treat for head lice but if you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to speak to myself or another member of staff.

KS2 Residential Visits

Please can the final payment for the Year 3/4 visit to Condover be paid as soon as possible. If you would like your child to attend the Year 5/6 visit to Arthog, there are still places available.
