End of term news 17.07.2020

Hi everyone,

It seems strange writing this, knowing that it is the last weekly news of our school year.  There are a few bits of information I need to share and the information detailing our plans for September will follow over the holidays – please remember to look out for emails.

Year 6 Leavers

We were really sad to say goodbye to our Year 6s yesterday but we know they have bright futures ahead of them and they are going to be great Year 7s! Even if you haven’t got a child in Year 6, have a look at the Class 5 area on the website to watch their Leavers video and see some lovely photos from yesterday.

Free School Meals – new applications

Shropshire Council have asked us to signpost parents to their portal here, if you want to check your eligibility and apply for free school meals before the autumn term. A new parent portal will be introduced in the autumn term and it can be accessed from the same link.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Support

Please see some useful information below detailing the support currently available for children’s mental health and wellbeing.

Year 6s transferring to The Corbet

Please see important information from The Corbet School below. A printed copy of the September reopening letter has also been given to the Year 6s who were in school this week.

And finally…

2020 has been a very eventful year and none of us could have ever imagined going through what we have experienced over these last few months.

September is going to bring new challenges for us all but I know we will get through it and I cannot wait to see all of our families back with us, as well as welcoming new families to our school and nursery.

I feel very lucky to be part of a community that has such amazing children, supportive parents, and extremely hardworking and committed staff. It is because of all of you that I continue to love my job and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Take care and please stay safe and well.

Thank you!

On behalf of all the Class 5 staff, I would just like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you for all of the cards, gifts and kind words we have received this week.
It has been a week of mixed emotions; happiness at having such a lovely last week together but sadness as Year 6 come to the end of their primary school journey.
We really do have the best job in the world and have been so privileged to teach your lovely children for the last year or more. They have been a  fantastic cohort and will be a great asset to their secondary school.
We hope you all enjoy the leavers video, we certainly enjoyed making it.
Thanks again and have a wonderful summer together.

Year 6 Leavers Video

Saying goodbye to our Year 6s is always a really sad day and this year more than most.  Their video sums up what an amazing year group they have been and we will miss every one of you!

Thank you to Miss Carr and Mr Andrews for all their hard work (and patience!) putting this together. Enjoy! xx

*Weekly news 10.07.2020*

Hi everyone

I hope you’ve all had a good week. It’s been a busy week in school and I’m very glad that it’s Friday at last!

End of year reports

You should have received your child’s end of year report today. The children attending school have been given a paper copy, some have been emailed to you and a few are being hand-delivered by school staff. Please check your junk email, if you haven’t received it today, incase it has dropped into there.  Please click here to access the parent form, to confirm that you have received your child’s report and to make any comments. We thank you in advance for taking the time to do so. Thank you for the messages and ‘thank you comments’ that we have already received today.

Important parent letter

Please see a copy of the letter below which has been sent out today with the reports.  It contains lots of information, so I ask that you read it carefully.

Wanted – empty hand soap / sanitiser bottles

In preparation for September, we could really do with some empty plastic bottles that have had hand soap or hand sanitiser in them which we can refill to use in school. Any size between 250ml and 500ml would be ideal so if you have any suitable bottles in your recycling or which are coming to an end, we’d love to take them off your hands! If you are passing school, please leave the bottles in the plastic box outside the office next week.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend and fingers crossed we might see a bit of sunshine!

Love

Mrs Johnson x

Bicton C.E. Primary and Nursery Sock Olympics 2020!

Are you ready for ‘Sock Olympics?’  Next week we will be challenging all the children and staff to complete 8 challenges using a ball of socks!  All children who are currently not back at school are invited to join in at home and send their class teacher photos / videos of how they get on.  Parents, you are equally welcome to have a go!

Can we ask that the children who are in school come prepared with a spare pair of socks to use please.

We have set 8 challenges for you to complete:

Watch this video to see how each challenge is done.
