Weekly News 25.09.2020

Hello everyone

I hope you have all had a good week. The change in temperature has certainly made it feel more like we are in the autumn term but thankfully our children and staff seem to be keeping well and we have less children suffering from colds and runny noses!

There is a lot of information I need to share this week, so I ask that you take a few minutes to read everything in full.

URGENT REMINDER – Parents MUST follow social distancing on our school site

Please can we remind all parents and adults dropping off / collecting children from school/nursery, that YOU MUST LEAVE THE CAR PARK IMMEDIATELY after your child has gone in or you have collected them. We cannot have groups of parents staying to chat on the car park once their child has gone in or whilst children run around/play in the trees at the end of the school day. We are doing everything we can within school to keep our children, staff and visitors safe so WE NEED YOU TO DO THE SAME.

Only one parent should get out of your vehicle at drop off or collection time and we ask that you do not allow your child to run around whilst they are waiting to go in. Thank you.

Passing on messages / information to staff

If you need to get a message to your child’s teacher, and you do not manage to speak to a member of staff at drop off in the morning, please phone school or email our school office on admin@bicton.shropshire.sch.uk and they will get a message to your child’s class. Teachers do not get chance to check their emails during the day so important messages may not be seen before the end of the day.

Flu immunisation – PLEASE RETURN FORMS

If you have not yet returned the flu immunisation form, which your child brought home, please return it on Monday 28th. We need to collate the responses for the Immunisation Team who will be visiting us on Thursday 1st October. If you do not return the form, your child will not be able to have the immunisation.

Friends of Messy Church

Dear Friends of Messy Church,
I hope all is well this week? Please find attached our weekly news, readings and reflections. This week on Pyjama Church, you may spot our own Mary-Lou! It’s available to watch from 6pm on Sunday (www.trinitychurches.org), and after three weeks at the new time, the rest of the team and I have finally remembered to say ‘good evening’ rather than ‘good morning’! What an achievement.
With love and blessings,
Hannah x

*NEW* Weekly News 18.09.2020

Hello everyone

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the wonderful sunshine this week. It’s just what we needed and it’s been wonderful to see children running around with their friends on our school field!

Should my child attend School/Nursery?

Thank you to everyone for your support in keeping our children and staff safe by not sending your child in if they are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or if they are not well enough to attend. Please see an important flow chart below which explains what to do if your child is unwell.

Should I send my child to school

Flu immunisation

Children in Reception to Year 6 have been given a flu immunisation letter and form to be completed. Please return these to school no later than Thursday 24th September so that our administrators can collate the responses for the Immunisation Team who will be visiting us on Thursday 1st October.

Adcote School

Please see below information for Year 6 parents which Adcote School have asked us to share.

New Year 6 Captains and House Captains

Thank you to all the Year 6 children who wrote to me to put themselves forward for the position of house captains or vice captains. Miss Carr and I have spent a lot of time this week discussing which children will take on the roles this year and it was not an easy decision to make. We have stressed to children not selected that there will be opportunity for them to take on other roles over the course of the year.

As we are not able to join together at the moment for whole-school worship, we announced the names today over Teams with the help of several children and staff.  We had several technical difficulties in getting all the classes online (thank you Mr Andrews and Mrs Erasmus for your help) and we apologise for the sound quality, including where we couldn’t hear Maple announce the Darwin captain and vice captain and where Jemima’s prayer was muted! Rather than spend ages editing the video, and making you wait until next week to watch it, the video is attached below in it’s original unedited form.  Please excuse the part where I called Hazel class ‘Jebb’ by mistake – oops!

I hope you all have a good weekend.

Take care and stay safe

NEW Weekly News 11.09.2020

Hello everyone

Firstly, I would like to say a huge thank you for all your messages of support over the past 10 days. Thanks to everyone working together to follow the measures in place, we have been able to bring the start time forward for Hazel class and the revised car park arrangements have made the start and end of the day better for children and parents.

Please see our updated risk assessment below. The amended or new sections are highlighted in pink to make the changes easy to identify.

Sickness absence

If your child has been unwell this week, thank you for keeping them at home and not sending them into Nursery or School In the past we may have said ‘see how they go’ and phoned you if they became worse during the day. We cannot do that now and everyone has taken this on board which will hopefully keep our school community safe and well.

Please remember to phone school by 9:30 am if your child is not going to be in. If you need to leave an answerphone message, please say why your child is not in school and any symptoms and we may ring you back for more information.

Hands.Face.Space.

You may have heard in the news this week about the government’s new ‘Hand.Face.Space.’ campaign, which they are launching to highlight how everyone can help to stop the spread of the virus by remembering to wash their hands, cover their face and make space. Click below to watch the video.

Morning arrival

We know mornings can be a bit hectic for lots of different reasons but please ensure that your child arrives at school within their time slot and at their allocated entrance. We cannot have lots of children coming through the main entrance in the morning, as the children have limited or no access to the corridor during the school day.

Payment for clubs and dinner money

The school office are not able to accept cash unless it is in an envelope marked clearly with your child’s name, class and what the payment is for. Please see the link below for booking clubs for the week commencing Monday 21st September.

Childcare online booking form 21/09/20 to 25/09/20

Spelling Shed

We have subscribed to an online spelling platform called Spelling Shed. Children in Years 1 to 6 will be given their indiviudal log in details next week so they can access the resource at home as well as in school. Teachers will be setting spelling assignments and children can practise spelling patterns at home and in school before being tested in school on Fridays.

PE slots

I know you have already been told your child’s PE slots but they are shown below as a useful reminder.

Willow Thursday
Hazel Tuesday and Thursday
Maple Monday and Friday

I hope you have a lovely weekend and enjoy the sunshine on Sunday!
