Class 4 Homework

Dear Parents/Carers,

This is just to make you aware that your child should’ve come home with a piece of literacy homework today relating to writing dialogue. I am unable to put this document on the website so please let me know if your child hasn’t got one.

Also we will be having a  times table test every Friday from now on. I have told the children to choose a times table to learn each week (or for longer if necessary) in the hope that they will gradually improve as we continue these tests.

Thank you for your support as always.

Miss Barratt

Your child should’ve come home with a piece of maths homework this week to do with coordinates. Please let me know if your child has lost their homework and needs another sheet, as I am unable to upload the work onto the website for you to access yourself at home.

Thank you.

Class Spring Letter

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back! I hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and have enjoyed the break. I just wanted to let you know some key bits of information about this term.

PE – Wednesdays and Fridays – Please could children ensure they have both indoor and outdoor kit in school as at this time in the year our lessons are very much weather dependent!

Stottesdon – During this term we will be holding a meeting about Stottesdon to discuss any questions you might have. We will let you know a date for this meeting in due course.

Class 4 Topic

Our main topic for this term is a geography topic called ‘Our Kingdom’. We will be doing a study of the UK looking at both physical and human features. We will spend time looking at different cities and regions of the UK as well as comparing different regions. We will complete art work linked to this relating to maps as well as looking at things people associate with the UK. If you would like to support your child with this topic at home they would benefit from becoming used to using an atlas or a globe to locate countries, continents and lines of latitude, becoming familiar with the four countries that make up the United Kingdom and key physical and human features associated with this – landmarks, mountains, rivers etc. We will also be covering the Water Cycle within this topic.

Other ways in which you can support your child at home are with handwriting practise, spelling practise and the opportunity to read and have a go at writing a variety of texts. Before Christmas, we were focusing on how to extend our sentences by using conjunctions such as because, so, although, despite, however, then, when. Children could practise writing sentences which include these at home. In terms of supporting your child with maths, it is beneficial to keep learning and practising times tables. Practising written addition and subtraction methods will also help them.

If you have any questions please feel free to come and speak to me at the end of a school day.

Thank you for your continued support.

Christmas Jumper Day

Thank you for the donations for ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ or ‘Wear Something Festive Day! We raised £135 which will be sent off to Save The Children this week.

Classes 4 and 5 Christmas Party

christmas-party

The list of party food will be put up on Class 4’s window on Tuesday for Class 4 and 5’s party.  If you are able to donate something, please write your child’s name next to an item and send it into school for the afternoon of Monday 15th December.  If you are unable to get into school and prefer to phone, there is also a copy of the list at the school office.

Children can bring in a change of clothes for the party and a festive hat if they have one!

Thank you in advance for your help and support at this busy time of year.

Mrs Johnson and Miss Barratt
