This week in English, the children wrote about the main character of our class novel ‘After Tomorrow.’ We then went on to to pick out the main themes of the novel, showing them in freeze frames and finding evidence of them in the book. The children will be using these ideas in their writing next week.
In maths we have been learning about how to find the perimeter, area and volume of shapes. We are now going over work on place value and practising multiplying and dividing by 10 and 100.
In science the children have looked at what happens when different materials are mixed with water. This week they had to work out how to separate 4 different mixtures using sieving, filtering, heat and magnets.
In DT we are starting to look at purses and wallets and have practised our sewing skills this afternoon, ready to design and make our own purses or wallets in the coming weeks.
Finally in history the children have continued to look at Viking trade and consider what items would have been most valuable to trade with.
