Please see below a copy of the letter sent out last week, just in case you missed it.  There is also a list of free apps that you or your child might find useful. (A list of 20 useful apps was published in one of the Sunday newspapers but only the free apps are included on the attached list.)

*LATEST update 25th March*

Hello everyone,

We hope your first week has gone as well as can be expected and we just wanted you to know we have missed seeing you all in school.

Home learning

Please see further information below on home learning activities and ideas to support you and your child.

Home learning update 25.03.20

Key worker childcare provision

Please remember to follow and adhere to the government’s lastest advice on staying at home. If you are a key worker, you should only book a childcare place at school if you and your partner are unable to work from home.

Scam email warning

We have been made aware that there is a scam email circulating telling parents who are eligible for free school meals to forward their bank details. Please do not provide your bank details, if you are contacted – parents whose children are eligible for free school meals have been contacted by school already.

Stay safe and well.

*Latest news Saturday 21st March*

Firstly, on behalf of all the staff, THANK YOU for all your support this week. The immense challenges we have faced this week have been like nothing we have ever faced before. We are eternally grateful for your support and the way in which our whole school community has come together in these past few days and we cannot thank you enough for the emails and personal messages we have received. It really does mean so much to all of us.

Key worker childcare provision

I have contacted all parents who have identified themselves as key workers and who have requested childcare provision in school next week (Monday 23rd onwards.) Please can the children, who have been confirmed as having a place, wear comfortable clothing and bring an old pair of trainers/outdoor shoes/wellies.  Please can you also email me at head@bicton.shropshire.sch.uk to let me know if your child would like a school dinner on Monday.

Please do not bring your child to school next week, unless you have received a confirmation email from me.

URGENT – School closure and keyworkers UPDATED 6:40 PM

Please see two important letters below which we ask all parents to read. Schools are still waiting for the Cabinet Office to publish the list of keyworkers so that parents know if their child can attend school from Monday.

In case we do not get chance to get an online survey out this evening, please can you email me asap if you think your role may be a keyworker. Thank you to the parents who have already contacted me this afternoon / evening.

School closures – government anouncement

Due to the latest government announcement this evening, we will be closing from the end of the school day on Friday 20th March to all children except those in particular categories and those whose parents are ‘keyworkers’ in dealing with the Coronovirus outbreak. At the moment we have not received any further information on which children will be eligible to attend and we will be seeking further information from Shropshire Council tomorrow morning. We will let you know more details as soon as we get them via the website / email / Twitter / letter (where possible.)

These are very uncertain times for us all and we will update you as soon as we can. Thank you for all your support and take care from everyone at Bicton School and Nursery.

Tuesday evening latest update – suspected case of Coronavirus

Good evening

Further to the earlier post this evening, we have been informed that the family member does not have a confirmed case of Coronavirus.

Thank you again for your understanding.

School News 15.03.20

Covid-19

Handwashing As you are hopefully already aware, we introduced additional measures in school and nursery last week. Children must now wash their hands on arrival at school in the morning and also after each playtime. (We have always asked them to wash their hands before eating.)

We ask that any parents/other adults coming into nursery, the other classrooms or visiting the school library, also wash their hands on arrival. We thank you in advance for your co-operation with this.

Coronavirus poster

Pupil absence – We recognise and fully understand that parents may have chosen to self-isolate their child, due to their concerns about Coronavirus. This could be because their child is unwell and showing signs of illness or because they have been advised to by their doctor or other medical professional, due to their child’s health and medical conditions.

We ask that you inform school no later than 9:30 am if your child is absent and the reasons why, so that it can be recorded on our attendance registers.  Thank you.

Home-learning – A letter will be sent out this week with information and guidance on activities for children to do at home, in the event that the government decides to close schools.

No heating but school and nursery open

We have an issue with the heat pumps, which the engineer was unable to fix on Friday night, so the heating is not working.  We will still be open as normal on Monday but please ensure your child has their sweatshirt or cardigan on and not just a t shirt.
We are hopeful that the issue can be fixed on Monday and we will keep you updated.

Thank you.
