we hope everyone is keeping well and we miss seeing you all.

Our activities this week are based around The 3 little pigs story.

Below is a link to a 3 Little Pigs song for you to listen to.

🐷 Can you use some recycling objects to build 3 different houses for the pigs.

🐷 Look at the pigs houses and talk about the different materials they are made from.

Is your house made of bricks? If you go for a walk can you look at all the different houses, there colour, size, shapes, patterns.

🐷 On your walk you could collect some sticks to make a stick house.

🐷 can you make a pig sound, and think about lots of other animals and the sounds they make. Where do the different animals live, what do they eat.

🐷 Some pigs are a pink colour, some black, some white and brown. Can you mix colours to watch the colour change.  Do you know which 2 colours make pink?

🐷 can you retell the story and add your own pig voice and Wolf voice, with a big huff and puff!

🐷 have you got some building blocks, or boxes that you could make a house for an animal of your choice.

Hello Everybody

We hope that you are all keeping well and have had a good week.

We hope you are all keeping well, and have enjoyed the weekend Sunshine.

This is our last week of term, before we break up for the Summer holidays.  It has been very strange not seeing you all for such a very long time, and we are sad that we can’t celebrate with you all that you have achieved before you start school in September.  However we are so looking forward to seeing you in Class 1, and some of you returning to Nursery in September.

Serves: 24 mini muffins

Prep: 20 mins

Cook: 10 mins

Total: 30 mins

 Ingredients

Muffin Base

• 1 1/3 cups white whole wheat flour (also called golden wholegrain flour)
• 3/4 cup old fashioned rolled oats (jumbo rolled oats)
• 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
• 3 teaspoons baking powder
• 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds (milled flax seeds)
• 1 small apple – grated with peel
• 2 medium eggs
• 3/4 cup whole milk
• 1/4 cup unsalted butter – melted
• Apple Cinnamon (enough for 1/4 of the muffin batter)
• 1/2 small apple – chopped into 1/2-cm pieces
• /4 teaspoon cinnamon
• Blueberries (enough for 1/4 of the muffin batter)1 handful blueberries (blueberries vary in size, but aim for about 2-3 blueberries in each muffin)
• Carrot and Raisin (enough for 1/4 of the muffin batter)
• 1/4 medium carrot – grated
• 1 tablespoon raisins
• Chocolate Chip (enough for 1/4 of the muffin batter)
• 2 tablespoons dark chocolate chips
• Instructions

• Preheat the oven to 375°F / 190°C. Grease or line a 24-hole mini muffin tin.
• In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and flax seeds. Fold in the grated apples. 
• In a small bowl, beat the eggs. Beat in the milk and butter. 
• Pour the egg mixture into the batter, and fold together, being careful not to over mix. 
• Split the muffin batter evenly between 4 bowls. In each bowl, gently mix in the mix-in ingredient. You can adapt the recipe to make 1, 2, 3 or 4 varieties. Adjust the amount of mix-in as required.
• Using a cookie scoop, evenly distribute the batter into the mini muffin tin, filling each muffin cup about 3/4 full. For each variety, you should be able to get 6 mini muffins. 
• Bake for 10 minutes, or until cooked in the middle and a toothpick inserted into the center of the muffin comes out clean. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before transferring to a cooling rack.

Growing Vegetables with Children

If you want to grow vegetables with your children then think about those that are easy to sow and grow and will be quick growing.  For the best vegetables to grow are those that:-

• Are easy to sow, especially those with large seeds like courgettes.
• Germinate quickly, to keep those short attention spans occupied.
• You can sow in situ, so you do not have the trouble of transplanting.
• Produce a crop quickly.
• Require minimum maintenance other than watering and feeding.
• Will continue cropping.
• Grow food that you know your children already like or food you have a good chance of persuading them to munch.   Vegetables that you can eat straight from the plant like tomatoes are always a hit with kids.  Harvesting food is one of the best things about growing your own.

• Create a space phone using items from around the home.
• Make a space phone book to support roleplay. Draw a picture of a different alien on each page and write a phone number for them.

• Make a textured replica planet- You could papier mache a balloon, or colour,paint or stick bits of materials on to the card to create textured effects.

Shaving foam paint technique (see picture) creates a great textured finish when dry. Simply spray shaving foam onto a plate and drop in food colouring or poster paint.
