Welcome Back!

Hello everyone,

It has been a good start to the summer term and it was a relief not to see anyone arriving with any limbs in cast this term!

Children have enjoyed the sunny playtimes and they are desperate to know when it will be dry enough for them to go on the school field at playtimes!

We welcomed Kallum and Evie to our school this week and we look forward to getting to know their families.

School uniform

In our second-hand uniform stocks, we still have gingham dresses and grey shorts in various sizes. Please speak to Lisa or Helen in the school office in confidence, if you require any items for your child.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Mrs Johnson x

Forest Church on Sunday 14th!

Dear Friends,

It’s Forest Church this coming Sunday (14th April). We are delighted to be meeting at Preston Montford Field Studies Centre, and Sue Dancey (who used to run the centre) will be leading various ecological activities for us. We’ll meet at 3pm, and then have a short service at about 4pm. Please do bring along a packed tea if you’d like to. Because the site is vast, we will stay in one part for the activities, but Sue or Arran (who runs the centre now) are very happy to give a tour after 4.15pm for those who are interested.
Do dress for the weather! There are indoor spaces if needed, but we are hoping to be outside for the whole afternoon.
Directions to Preston Montford (SY4 1DX):
From the Holyhead Road heading out from town, take a right turn onto the B4473 just before Montford Bridge (this road eventually joins the Welshpool Road). The field centre is along this road, on the right-hand side- clearly marked. Go down the drive towards the big white house, and there is plenty of parking.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Blessings,
Hannah x

End of term news 22.03.24

Hello everyone,

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for our Easter service this morning. The children loved being able to share their thoughts of Easter with you and we are so proud of how well they performed.

After break, we had a short assembly in school to think about the meaning of ‘saying goodbye’, to help us say goodbye to Alice and William from Birch class. We wish them lots of luck in their new schools next term.

I also spoke to children about changes that will be happening at Bicton at the end of the summer term. They had lots of interesting questions, which really made me and the staff smile and summed up how amazing our children and school are. Children have been given a paper copy of the letter below and I thank you in advance for your support.

Letter to parents from Mrs Johnson

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter holiday.

Love Mrs Johnson x

Weekly News 15.03.24

Hello everyone,

Thank you for all the donations of cakes and biscuits for our Red Nose Day fundraising efforts. We raised £177.40 yesterday from the cake sale and non-uniform donations and the total on our Just Giving page currently stands at £24 so we are well on our way to our target of £250 – thank you everyone for your support!

Administering Medication / Calpol in School and Nursery

Please do not send medication into school with your child.  All medication that needs to be given during the day must be given to staff at the school office / breakfast club by parents or whoever is bringing the child to school and a medication permission form MUST be completed.  The only exception to this is children travelling on the minibus and medication should be given to the minibus driver for him to give to school staff.

Calpol will only be administered at 1:00 pm. If your child needs it more than once during the day, then they are unlikely to be well enough to be in school.

If a child is recovering from a fracture or injury causing increased pain, we understand that they might need 2 doses of Calpol or painkillers during the day but this must be discussed with and approved by Mrs Johnson.

If you have any questions about the above, please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Johnson or the school office staff. Thank you.

Diary date reminders

I hope you have a lovely weekend x

Is my child too ill for school?

We have seen a number of children absent from school recently with vomiting, diarrhoea, or general coughs and colds. Children must not return to school or nursery until 48 hours after their last bout of vomiting or diarrhoea.  If your child has a high temperature or is not well enough to be in school, please do not send them in.

We have children and staff in school who are immunosuppressed so we ask you to read and adhere to the NHS guidance below, to help us keep staff and other children safe and well.  Thank you in advance for your support.
