Vision in Action

A huge well done to Olivia in Year 6 who has been successful in gaining as place as part of the children’s ensemble in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! This will be at Theatre Severn so hopefully she will see lots of familiar faces in the crowd. Well done Olivia!

Also a huge well done to Frankie in year 2 who managed to achieve his 200M and 400M swimming badges this week!

Head of School Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope you are all well. We’ve had a wonderfully busy and positive week in school, and I think children and staff are ready for the half term holiday!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Valentine’s Disco. It was a brilliant event, full of fun and energy, and it was lovely to see the children enjoying themselves. We are very grateful to FOBs for organising this event for us.

We have also had visits a plenty this week! Willow and Birch welcomed the Imam from Craven Arms Mosque, and Oak Class had a wonderful opportunity to meet author M.G. Leonard this week. It was an inspiring session, sparking lots of excitement about reading and writing. We would like to extend a special thank you to Adcote School for kindly inviting us and providing transport for the visit. Another visit came from Reverend Dave who worked with our Worship Council to help make our school more dementia friendly. We were also pleased to welcome Julia Buckley MP into school this week. She spent time meeting groups of children and hearing about issues in our local area. The children were engaged, curious, and excellent ambassadors for our school.

A Polite Reminder About Communication
As always, we strive to maintain open, positive, and respectful communication between school and home. Please may we remind parents and carers to communicate politely with staff at all times—whether in person, by phone, or via email. We are all working together for the benefit of your children, and respectful dialogue helps us achieve the best outcomes for them.

FOBs Update

We had a fantastic meeting on Tuesday night at The Grapes and are all feeling energised and excited for the year ahead. We feel encouraged that with the help of parents, children and the community, we will be able to reach our goal of £30,000 for various outdoor areas at the school that need repairing and upgrading, including the trim trail, climbing wall and the early years play area.

World Book Day

Ahead of World Book Day on 5 March 2026, we’re seeking donations of used books and costumes to sell at a special afterschool book sale on Thursday, 26 February. We would be grateful if donations could be brought to reception by Tuesday, 24 February. DONATIONS BY TUESAY, 24 FEBRUARY.

Mothering Sunday

Show how much you love your mother, grandmother, aunt, sister or whomever (!) by purchasing a potted sunflower seedling for £1. Each plant will be accompanied by a free card of your choosing. Plants will be on sale the week of 9 March with final payments by Thursday, 12 March. Plants and cards will be handed out in class on Friday, 13 March, ready for gifting on Sunday, 15 March.

***As a follow up to the sale of the sunflower seedling, we will be holding a competition for whose plant grows the tallest by the Summer Fete in June. The winner will be announced at the fete!

APRIL

Put a little spring in your step with a fun and fantastic evening of Bingo at the school hall. Date TBC.

Resale shop

In addition to meeting our fundraising goal, FOBS is keen to promote sustainability and affordability. If your child has outgrown their school uniform, any clothes or shoes, please consider donating them to FOBS. We will have a sale afterschool before the next half-term. It’s a good opportunity to have a clear out and maybe grab a few new things for the Easter break!

Miss Merricks goes to Uganda!

I would like to say thank you very much for all the support and donations I have had for my upcoming Uganda trip. For those of you who may have missed it, I will soon be volunteering at a school in Uganda, the school is in Kabale, southern Uganda and is run by the One Love Project. This is a non-profit organisation which aims to empower children with education and healthcare to contribute to a brighter future. The school has approximately 220 pupils aged 2-14, most of which are orphans that live on site. During my stay I will be helping with maintenance tasks, reading with pupils, supporting teachers, or even leading a lesson myself, depending on the school’s needs.

As part of this experience, I am kindly asking for support from our amazing school. The school I will be working with has very limited resources, and even small a donation can make a big difference to the children there. The physical donations I have received have been amazing but for anyone who would like to donate in other ways you can follow the link below to donate directly to the One Love Project. Every penny donated will go directly towards education, care, community development, and life-changing opportunities for some of the most vulnerable children in the region.

Julia Buckley MP Visit

We were very excited to be visited by Julia Buckley, our local MP on Monday afternoon. Julia had a tour of the school and met with various groups of children to discuss our zebra crossing campaign and the potential impact of a new housing development next door to our school. They were wonderful ambassadors for our school and asked some brilliant, insightful questions.

Valentine’s Day Disco

Less than one week until the Valentine Day’s Disco on Thursday 12, February! We can’t wait to share food, games, music and dancing with the children!

Sandwiches, veggies, crisps, biscuits and squash will be provided by FOBS. Games, cakes and popcorn will be 50p each, but of course, dancing and having fun will be FREE!

FOBS Meeting

If you’d like to get involved by volunteering, donating or sponsoring, please do! We’d love to hear your ideas!

Our next meeting is at the Grapes at 8pm on Tuesday, 10^th February.
