Home learning ideas, week beginning 15.06.2020 – The Princess and the Wizard

Hi Class 1 Children, Mums and Dads

I hope you have all had a good week and enjoyed doing some of the Snail and the Whale activities.   I have seen some lovely work done at home and in class based around the story.

This week our story is ‘The Princess and the Wizard’, the Learning Plan has been uploaded onto Tapestry.

I look forward to seeing all your posts and photos over the week.

Love,

*Weekly news 12th June 2020*

Hello everyone,

I hope you have had a good week and that you are all well.
This week we have welcomed some of our Reception and Year 1 children back into school, as well as more key worker children. All the staff have been amazed at how well the children have coped with the new routines and safety measures in place. Next week we are really looking forward to welcoming some of our Year 6s and nursery children back into school.

Almost all of our bubbles are now full so if you have not requested a place for your child we cannot guarantee there being a place available at a later date. Teachers are still providing home-learning projects, activities and ideas and please keep sending in photos of what your child has been doing at home. We love to see your photos!

School dinners

If your child would like a school dinner, it must be paid for in advance i.e. on the day they require the meal, and the menu for next week is as follows:

Monday: meatballs and pasta

Tuesday: pizza

Wednesday: fish

Thursday: chicken pasta

Friday: sausage and chips

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, as well as children eligible for free school meals, will all receive a free lunch as normal.

Drop off and collection

Just a reminder that only one parent should accompany their child to the gate / door at drop off and collection, and younger children are asked to stay in the car or stand by their parent and not run around on the car park. This is to keep everyone safe and well and thank you to all the parents this week for adhering to our social distancing measures. We really are very grateful to you all  as we were not quite sure how things were going to work this week and there have been very few teething problems!

And finally …

Somebody in school is celebrating a special birthday on Saturday 13th June. Mr Andrews would have escaped our Arthog weekend because of it being his 21st birthday weekend but he couldn’t escape us celebrating it in school today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR ANDREWS!

Have a lovely weekend and stay safe.

Open the Book 10th June 2020

Hello everyone,

Mary-Lou, Hannah and Pat have very kindly created an Open the Book worship video for us and I hope you enjoy listening to the story ‘Jesus and the Children’.

It’s sad us not being able to worship together in school but remember we are thinking of all of you at home and we hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Home learning ideas, week beginning 8.6.2020 – The Snail and the Whale

Hello Class 1 Children, Mums and Dads,

once again thank you very much for all the lovely updates you have added. They always put a big smile onto my face.
I hope you enjoyed doing some of the Superworm activities, the  Key worker children in class certainly enjoyed our wormy tasks!
This week the main story is ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson. There is a lovely movie of the story to watch to start the week off.  The planning document is now on Tapestry.

Read Write inc – The Keyworker children who have been in class, are watching the New Set 2 sound and Spelling videos this week (Rosie has changed the words to read and spell). They have also watched Red Words 1.  If you are watching the Red Word videos, I would recommend writing the words covered onto paper and practising them over the week.

I hope you all have a super week,

take care and stay safe,
Mrs Bowes xx

Hi everyone

At last I’ve got around to creating a video to say hello and to show you what school looks like at the moment for those children who are returning over the next couple of weeks. Apologies for getting a touch of the giggles part of the way through!
