Weekly News 10.03.23

Hello everyone

On behalf of all the staff, thank you again for all your support this week. Please feel free to send in any photos of you enjoying the snow and we’ll create a gallery on our website!

Plans for Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March 2023 – NEU (National Education Union)

You will be aware that industrial action is being taken by the National Education Union on the 15th and 16th March 2023. At this point, it is unknown what our staffing position will be on those dates and the impact it may have on classes. An update will be provided early next week. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Our Very Own ‘Outstanding Young Citizen’
You may recall Cerys in Year 5 asking for donations of Christmas shoeboxes for the charity Teams4U, and her huge success in how many she collected and delivered to the charity.
In recognition of her achievements, I nominated Cerys for the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s Outstanding Young Citizenship Award and Cerys and her family were invited to the 2023 presentation ceremony at Telford College on Wednesday evening. It was a real privilege to be there and see the High Sheriff present Cerys with her certificate. Not only did she receive a certificate, she was also presented with an overall award in the junior category which, considering there are only three awards presented, is a huge achievement and very well-deserved.
Well done Cerys – we are very proud of you!
Parent Meetings

Our spring term parent meetings will be held in school on Wednesday 22nd March. The booking system will be on the website next week and we will send out a further message when it is ‘live.’

Have a good weekend.

Message from Maple Class

Maple class have asked me to share this message with parents.
The way the ‘Give as you Live’ scheme works is you simply sign up to it. You go on to a website via Shrewsbury Ark’s website and it will automatically donate a percentage of your shop purchase to the charity. All you need to do is simply buy as you usually would and a percentage is donated to the charity.
This is linked to the Shrewsbury Ark charity which we are raising money for with our 5000km.
Thank you from Maple Class

Friday 10th Important Information

Thank you for all your support and understanding today.

After clearing the paths and the car park entrance for the start of the day, the weather and the road conditions deteriorated rapidly once children were in school. Closing the school during the day is never an easy decision to make so your quick response in coming to collect your child/children was very much appreciated.

At this moment in time, the plan is for school and nursery to be open tomorrow. However, I will continue to monitor the weather closely and assess the safety of the site and local roads as early as possible tomorrow morning.

If the decision is taken to close before the start of the day, it will be broadcast on Radio Shropshire and published on Shropshire Council’s website, as well as on the front page of our school website, and on Class Dojo / Tapestry.

Take care,

Mrs Johnson
