Weekly News 06.05.23

Hi everyone,

It was wonderful to see so many families at our Coronation party yesterday and for you to enjoy the afternoon with us.

I would like to say a huge thank you to FOBS and all the volunteers who worked incredibly hard yesterday and over recent weeks to organise the different stalls. They raised a grand total of £460 which is amazing news – thank you everyone for your support!

We had some brilliant entries for the baking and crown competitions and the winners will be announced in school next week. Well done to everyone who entered.

Maple class had been busy designing and making some amazing Coronation-themed cake stands in Design and Technology and, as you can see, they were put to very good use! Well done Maple class 🙂

Good luck Year 6

Next week, Year 6s will be completing their SATs (end of KS2 tests.) They have worked really hard to prepare for these and we are so proud of each and every one of them.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Hello everyone,

Please see two letters below which children have been given today in paper form.

School closure letter 2nd May 2023 update

April Newsletter

I would like to clarify why nursery is closed on Tuesday, alongside all other classes.

When all of a school’s senior leadership team are on strike, the school and nursery must close. On previous strike days, both myself and our deputy headteacher – Mrs Mavin – have both been on strike so all classes were closed. Yesterday, I chose not to strike as there were maintenance jobs I needed to do in school that school cannot afford to pay external contractors to do. This was not an easy decision to make and I fully support our teachers who were on strike.

On Tuesday 2nd May, I will be striking alongside our teachers so nursery and all classes are closed. Please be assured, we do not want to strike and lose pay but the chronic underfunding of schools leaves us with no choice.

Thank you for your support.

Mrs Johnson

We’ve had a great first week back. The children were very excited about being able to play on the field and we’ve made the most of the sunshine at playtimes!

Parents are warmly invited to join us between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. FOBS will be selling refreshments and sweets, and details of competitions will follow next week.

Parking Reminders

Parking on Bicton Lane

Please do not park on the yellow zig zag lines on Bicton Lane or on/near the pedestrian crossing. This makes crossing the road very dangerous to pedestrians and is a hazard to other vehicle users. We have received several complaints over recent weeks from residents and other vehicle users and we thank you in advance for adhering to this request and keeping the families coming to and from our school safe.
