Forest Church News

Dear Friends,
We are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible this coming Sunday, for Forest Church. We will be gathering at 3pm at Leaton Forest (by kind permission of Mr Charles Bridgeman)- where the Christmas trees are sold- Berwick Road, SY4 3AP. There is plenty of parking, and there will be seating and crafts set up in the grain store for those who don’t want to walk far.
The afternoon will begin with an opening prayer and introduction to the site. There will then be 45 minutes or so to explore. Choose from woodland walks, woodland crafts or den-making. At about 4pm we will have a brief service, followed by a drink (provided) and picnic (do bring your own picnic).
If you do go exploring, please do wear suitable shoes and long trousers- there is some uneven ground and we are blessed with a biodiverse landscape at its summer peak!
With thanks and blessings,
Hannah x

Weekly News 19.05.23

Hello everyone,

Well done to our Year 2 pupils this week who have been completing their KS1 assessments. They have worked so hard and have amazed us with their resilience!

Drinks and snacks

We are aware that lots of children are bringing squash in their drink bottles. Children should only be bringing water in their drinks bottles please.  Can we also ask that children bring a healthy snack for morning break and, as we are a nut-free school, we do not allow anything containing nuts for snack or lunch. Thank you for your support with this.

Gardening and DIY Day – Saturday 20th May from 9:30 am onwards

Thank you for letting me know if you are coming along to our gardening and DIY day tomorrow. We are starting slightly earlier at 9:30 am so that we can finish early afternoon and make the most of the sunshine!

If you are able to spare a couple of hours we’d love to see you. Children are welcome to come along but they must be supervised by the parent / adult they are attending with.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Johnson x

Weekly News 14.05.23

Hi everyone,

I hope you’ve had a good weekend and enjoyed the lovely sunshine yesterday!

Well done to all of our Year 6s for their positive attitude last week during SATs. They should feel proud of how hard they have worked this year and we are grateful for your support at home.

This coming week, our Year 2s will be completing their KS1 assessments and they seemed to be quite excited about it on Friday! Again, your support at home, especially with reading and phonics, has been much appreciated.

Take care,

Mrs Johnson x

Shrewsbury Duck Hunt – free event

Free family event, being held in the May half term from Saturday 27th May – Saturday 3th June 2022.

The event is for all, but targets young children and involves them going on a ‘hunt’ around Shrewsbury town centre to find 20 hidden rubber ducks. There are opportunities for prizes to be won on completion of the duck hunt.  This is the 3rd year that the event has run.

All the information on the event can be found on their website: www.shrewsburyduckhunt.co.uk

Thank you from the Shrewsbury Duck Store (based in the Darwin Centre, Shrewsbury.)

Summer events 2023

Our next Forest Church will be on Sunday, 4th June, 3pm at Leaton Forest (where the Christmas Trees are sold). We really hope you can join us for a lovely afternoon in the summer sunshine with crafts, exploration, worship and fellowship. Please bring a picnic to share at the end of the afternoon. All welcome!
I’ve attached a poster of our summer events calendar (oh yes!), which gives details of the next couple of Forest Churches. I’d also like to draw your attention to the summer fete in the walled garden at Peverey (SY4 3AT) on Saturday, 10th June, 2.30pm-5pm, with a dog show at 3pm (entries on the day). It promises to be a fun-filled afternoon, in the style of a traditional village fete. Please do come along!
Finally, you may remember I mentioned that we have a Confirmation service on 5th November, 4pm. If you or your child (year 5 upwards) is interested in getting confirmed, then please do let me know as soon as possible. For those children in years 5 and 6 at Bicton and Bomere Schools, I’m starting preparation groups this coming week… so in that case, let the school know.
