Class 3 Homework – Due in Friday 18th September 2015

Class 3 Homework

Due in Friday 18th September 2015

As another way for me to get to know you a little bit better and find out what sorts of things you like, I would like you to tell me all about your favourite book or a book you have read recently.

Use the writing frame below to write a book review.

Remember to make sure your work is neat.

Stickers will be ready to be given for fantastic work! I was very impressed with your holiday homework which you will be given back next week (with lots of lovely stickers I am sure)!

The homework is split into groups – your child should know which group they are in (if they have forgotten please don’t hesitate to ask)!

Hello and welcome back!

We’ve got off to a great start in Class 3 and the children are excited about their new topics and all the learning planned for this term!

Please find attached a copy of the topic poster, identifying what we will be learning in each subject, as well as a letter informing you of some key information for Class 3.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to catch me at the end of the school day.

Welcome Back

The children seem to have settled back into school life easily and were all very keen to share their summer holiday news yesterday.  We have been very impressed with how our new Reception children have settled in so well and seem to be getting used to daily routines quickly.  Welcome also to Luca and Addison in Classes 1 and 3.

School Dinners

Please remember that your child is entitled to a free school lunch if they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, as part of the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meal scheme.

If you are in receipt of certain benefits, it is important that you still apply for free school meals as this may entitle school to receive Pupil Premium funding which can be used to support your child.  Application forms are available at the school office.

Flu Vaccinations

Year 1 and Year 2 children will be bringing home a flu vaccination letter and consent form today; please can the consent forms be returned to the school office as soon as possible. If you have any queries regarding the vaccination, please see the information on the small noticeboard at the front of the school or speak to Helen or Lisa at the school office who will try to answer any queries.

After-School Clubs

We are currently in the process of arranging after-school clubs for next week onwards and the website will be updated as soon as we have done so.

Many thanks.

Mrs Johnson

First day back to Class 2

The children in Class 2 had a fantastic first day back! Thank you for all of the lovely post cards and holiday scrap books that were returned yesterday, we had a lot of fun reading through each others and explaining all about our holidays.

As our topic is The Great Fire of London this term, we have set up Pudding Lane Bakery as our role play area. We made lots of baked goods out of salt dough yesterday to add to our role play area. We then painted some lovely fire pictures with red, yellow and orange paint.

Well done for a brilliant first day back Class 2!

A great first day back in Class One

Class One have had a brilliant day so far. The children are all getting on really well and are making each other feel very welcome and at home in the classroom. We have shared our holiday news this morning – it sounds like you have all had a very busy summer! The Reception children have started looking at their little bags and books that they could collect things in over the summer – lots of interesting things to see. The Year One children have spent time with Mrs Conde sharing their news too and have all written their first piece of work in their English books. They tried very hard to use their phonic knowledge and all did extremely well! They have all drawn a picture on the ‘Paint’ programme on the laptops too. This afternoon, we are going to get changed for Physical Development and have some fun developing our co-ordination, balance and agility skills.

Holiday Book Thank you!

Dear Parents/Carers

We would just like to say a big thank you for your help and support in helping your children complete their holiday books. We have really enjoyed looking at them this morning and have been really impressed with the amount of time and effort that has been spent on collecting information, printing off photos and writing about the things they have done.

If children did not bring their books in, they are welcome to share them with the class another time during this week.

Homework Policy

The staff have reviewed and updated our homework policy over the summer term which has been discussed, amended and agreed by our Standards and Curriculum committee governors in a recent meeting.  We have taken into account the responses received in our summer term questionnaire and hope that you will find the policy helpful.  If you have any questions after reading the policy, please do not hesitate to speak to myself or your child’s class teacher/s when we return to school.  The policy can be found on our public page or by clicking here Homework Policy August 2015.

Clubs

Some of the after-school clubs will be changing in September and we will update the website as soon as these have been arranged when we return to school.  The clubs shown for the first week back from Tuesday to Friday are up-to-date but some may change from the second week onward i.e. Games/Modelling Club and Sewing Club may need to change to a different day.  Please remember to check the website for clubs information.

From September, we will also display a list of each week’s clubs in the noticeboard by the main entrance.

Uniform

Please could we remind you to label all of your child’s uniform, P.E. kit and footwear for when we return to school.  This would be a great help to staff and children and hopefully will prevent too many items going missing next term.

Enjoy the rest of the holidays!

Mrs Johnson

Good Bye and Good Luck

Over the summer holidays, Mrs Clair Barker has received confirmation of her place on the School Direct Teacher Training programme and will sadly not be returning to Bicton School in September.  On behalf of everyone at Bicton, we would like to say a huge thank you to Clair for all her hard work over the past few years and for everything she has contributed to the life of the school. We will all miss her greatly but wish her the very best of luck in what promises to be a very bright future ahead of her as a teacher.

If you would like to send Clair a card when we return to school, we will make sure that these are passed on to her.
