Shrewsbury Sports Village Summer Superstars

This holiday club is inclusive to ALL children ages 5-12, as well as children eligible for HAF.

HAF is offered in the first 4 weeks Monday 24^thJuly – Thursday 17^th August 09.00-13.00. A free cold lunch is provided Monday – Wednesday and a hot meal on Thursday.

BioBlitz Event, Cholmondeley Estate, Malpas: 16th-17th August 10am-3pm

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Chester are organising an outreach event for primary school age children and their parents or guardians to come along to in the summer holidays. The event is called ‘University of Chester Cholmondeley Estate BioBlitz’ and it will be held at Cholmondeley Castle Gardens on Weds 16^th and Thurs 17^th August, 10am-3pm.

The event is a fun and educational day for parents and guardians to bring their children along to, where they will find out what wildlife species are in the area and how to identify them using their specialist field equipment. There will be students and staff from the university there to teach the children all about wildlife identification in a fun and interactive way.

Event Details: 16th and 17th August, 10:00am-3:00pm

Event Location: Cholmondeley Castle, Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, Malpas, Cheshire, SY14 8AH

Please note, the event is free to attend and there is no booking needed, just turn up on the day and stay for as long as you wish

KS2 SATs results

This week, we received our Year 6 SATs results, following on from the statutory tests, which were taken by our Year 6 children in May.

I would like to say a huge well done to all of our children who worked tirelessly leading up to and during SATS week. They should feel very proud of their achievements and the progress they have made this year.

We are particularly proud of our reading outcomes, as the test paper this year was more difficult than previous years. This makes us even more proud of our school outcomes, which are higher than both Shropshire and National. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our staff for their hard work this year and thank you for your support at home.

Weekly News 14.07.23

Hi everyone,

I hope you’ve had a good week.

School is as busy as ever with preparations for our end of term assemblies – see reminders below of dates and times.

I have asked children not to bring toys into school next week, so that we can get lockers and trays emptied for next term and to avoid anything being left in school over the summer.

Diary dates

Monday 17th End-of-year reports sent home

Tuesday 18th pm Nursery graduation

Wednesday 19th 2:00 – 5:30 pm Year 6 Leavers meal at Hickory’s

Thursday 20th 9:15 – 10:30 am Celebration Assembly – all welcome

Friday 21st 10:00 am Year 6 Leavers’ assembly and Year 6 parents’ lunch

We break up on Friday 21st at 3:15 pm and return on Tuesday 5th September.

Punctuality and attendance

Well done to Willow class who had 100% attendance this week!

Willow 100%

Birch 98.6%

Maple 97%

Rowan 93.5%

Oak 98.6%

Almost all classes achieved our attendance target – well done!

Rowan had the least number of ‘lates’ this week.

Forest Church Sunday 16th July

Dear Friends,

Just a quick reminder that our final Forest Church of the summer term is this coming Sunday, 3pm at Leaton Hall (by kind permission of Philippa and Al Herbert). Please park at Leaton Church (Berwick Road, B5067, SY4 3AP), and then it is a short walk through a field. Please do wear sturdy shoes as the ground is uneven in places.

Our activities this time include lots of opportunities to spot minibeasts, birds and wildgrasses in the developing nature area, as well as a climbing wall, archery, tug of war and possibly croquet to try! As ever, caregivers have responsibility for the children they bring and activities are carried out at our own risk. Please bring a picnic, and I will provide cold drinks. You might also like to bring a chair to sit on, and some binoculars- there is a pond area which is home to some rather stunning dragonflies.

We look forward to seeing you soon…

Hello everyone,

Sports Day Thank You

Thank you for the fantastic support at Sports Day yesterday. It was great to see so many family members there and it made it all the more special for the children. The weather was perfect and so was the children’s attitude and resilience – we are very proud of each and everyone one of them!

I will upload a gallery of photos over the weekend once I have gone through the hundreds of photos taken!

Thank you to FOBS for their hard work and giving up their time to provide refreshments.

Safer School Reaccreditation

Thank you to everyone who responded to the recent Safer School survey. We were delighted with the positive responses and suggestions, and these were shared and discussed at our annual Safer School meeting with the Local Authority. See below for an overview of the survey results.

Safer School Parent_Carer Survey 2023

Some of our Year 5 pupils attended the meeting and, as well as sharing their ideas, they have been given the task of creating some new car park signs to address some of the responses. Keep an eye out next term for their posters!

As part of the accreditation, we also survey pupils. This year, just Years 4 to 6 responded and you can see their responses below.
