Capacity

The children worked hard today to work out how many cupfulls of water the containers could hold.

We found out that some containers held the same amount even though they looked a different size.

Class 4 homework to be handed in on Wednesday 11th May

In science, children have been learning about animals and their different diets and have been identifying whether animals are herbivores, carnivores or omnivores.  Their homework this week is to choose 4 animals from the list given on their sheet to research.  They will need to find out what their chosen animals eat and imagine they are zoo keepers who need to order food for their chosen animals for a week!  We have also given the children a list of suggested websites to use for their research.  If they don’t have access to a computer at home, they can research using books or ask to use the school laptops at break or lunchtime.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask one of us in Class 4,

Many thanks for your support,

Mrs S Foster

Class 2 update

Maths

This week in maths we have been focussing on telling the time. Year 1 have concentrated on telling the time to the hour and half hour. Year 2 children started off with recognising quarter past and quarter to and today have been challenged further with telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes.

English

We have linked English with our Science topic – Year 1 have looked at Handa’s Surprise and had discussions about the story, sequenced the story and told it in their own words. Year 2 have been researching about habitats and writing at length about hot and cold habitats, using the conjunctions when, if, that and because.

Spellings

To be tested on Friday 6th May:

Class 3 Homework

Class 3 History Homework – Due in Wednesday 3rd May 2016

As part of our History topic we will be looking at the Family Tree of the British Royal Family and I thought it would be nice for children to have a go at creating their own family tree. With this in mind, please could you help your child to gather information about your family. They do not need to create a family tree as we will be doing this in class but it would be helpful for them to know the names of the people in their family and to know how they are related. This can be jotted down on a piece of paper and children can even bring in photographs if they want to but this is by no means essential.

Thank you for your support.

Class 4 Homework

This week we would like the children to complete a postcard from somewhere they have visited recently.

We would like the children who went on the residential to write a postcard from Condover.

Children need to draw and colour a picture on the front and then write the postcard to someone they know on the back.

Please ask if you require any further explanation.
