Class 3 Weekly Update

It’s been another hard working week in Class 3!

English – This week we have been learning about narrative poetry and have read ‘Coming Home’ by Michael Morpurgo – which the children have really enjoyed. We have described the feelings of the character’s in the poem and then planned and wrote our own narrative poem about our journey home from school. The children were very good at this and used lots of fantastic features such as repetition.

Maths – We have continued our work on multiplication and division. This week we have been learning about multiplying and dividing by 10 and where all the digits in a number move when you do this. We have also solved some reasoning problems about multiplication and division.

PE – The children have continued to practise key skills in PE this week.

We have now finished our science topic and will be aiming to finish our geography topic next week too.

The children have been working hard rehearsing for Joseph and it’s all coming together nicely.

Have a lovely weekend!

Class 4 update

In English the children have been learning to write instructions and explanation texts.

In maths we have recently been practising methods of subtraction, multiplication and division.  This week we have been learning about measures including converting between grams and kilograms and litres and millilitres.  The children have also been learning to read timetables and the 24 hour times that appear on them.

Our DT and science topics are now linked, as the children are working in pairs to make a festive light decoration.  This gives the children the opportunity to use what they have learnt about electrical circuits to make their decoration move and light up.

The children have been enjoying learning about Mexico and we had lots of fun on our Mexican Day making decorations for the classroom and some guacamole to taste at the end of the day with lots of tortillas and wraps!

Parent Governor Election

Following last week’s ballot, Mrs Julia Farrington has been duly elected as the new parent governor.  We would like to thank both Mrs Farrington and Mrs Francesca Hutcheson for standing for parent governor.

Joseph Tickets

Following last Friday’s email, just a reminder about how the tickets are being allocated for the Joseph performance.

  • To make sure that all parents have the opportunity to buy tickets, only 2 tickets may be purchased per family until Friday 2nd.
  • Once all parents have purchased tickets (or we have been informed that parents do not intend to watch the performance) all remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

The School office have a record of all tickets purchased so if they find that all families have purchased tickets before Friday 2nd, the remaining tickets will be available to purchase and this will be posted on the website and advertised at the main entrance.

Kind regards

Mrs Johnson
