Parent Governor Election

Following last week’s ballot, Mrs Julia Farrington has been duly elected as the new parent governor.  We would like to thank both Mrs Farrington and Mrs Francesca Hutcheson for standing for parent governor.

Joseph Tickets

Following last Friday’s email, just a reminder about how the tickets are being allocated for the Joseph performance.

  • To make sure that all parents have the opportunity to buy tickets, only 2 tickets may be purchased per family until Friday 2nd.
  • Once all parents have purchased tickets (or we have been informed that parents do not intend to watch the performance) all remaining tickets will be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.

The School office have a record of all tickets purchased so if they find that all families have purchased tickets before Friday 2nd, the remaining tickets will be available to purchase and this will be posted on the website and advertised at the main entrance.

Kind regards

Mrs Johnson

Visit to the Co-op

Last week a group of children, including some of the School Council members, spent a morning at the Bicton Heath Co-op learning about how the stock control works.

They split into 3 different groups and each group had a turn at putting out chilled food, frozen food and scanning and changing over the magazines.  All the children very quickly got the hang of rotating the stock and checking the sell-by dates and they were very keen to remove everything out of the chillers in order to stack the newer items at the back!

Several shoppers commented on how hard the children were working and even asked if they were on work experience!

Swimming Gala

A huge well done to the Year 5 and 6 children who took part in our Area Swimming Gala on Wednesday morning at Oswestry.  The team finished 2nd overall out of the 7 schools with only 5 points separating the top 3 schools.  The boys finished 1st in the individual freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke events, we came 3rd in the girls’ backstroke and the team also won the mixed relay and came 3rd in the boys’ relay.

Governor Visit

On behalf of all the staff and children, we would like to say thank you to our governors who visited School today. They had chance to watch our morning assembly, talk to children in classes and even stay for lunch.  We are sure they enjoyed their visit.

Joseph Rehearsal for children with Main Parts

Dear Parents/Carers,

This is just to let you know that next week the Joseph rehearsal will go back to normal, it will be on Monday 28th November, 3:15 – 4:30.

Just to remind you, this rehearsal is only for children who have a main part, not for the children who are the choir.

Thank you

Miss Barratt

Class 3 Weekly Update

English: We have continued learning about prepositions this week. We have learned what time, place and cause prepositions are and have begun to try and apply these to our independent writing. We then did some independent writing towards the end of the week and spent the next lesson self and peer assessing it as well as trying to improve some sentences within it.

Maths: We have moved on to multiplication and division this week. We have learned how the 4 times table can be doubled to get the 8 and the 3 can be doubled to get the 6. We have also been revising how multiplication and division are related and how you can derive related facts from one number sentence – e.g. 3 x 4 = 12, 4 x 3 = 12, 12 ÷ 4 = 3, 12 ÷ 3 = 4. We will continue to reinforce this next week.

Please continue to help your child learn their times tables as this will help them with our maths lessons over the next few weeks.

Science: This week we continued to investigate magnets and their magnetic poles. We were making predictions about when a magnet would attract another magnet and when it would repel.

Geography: We have done some research this week to find out the names and locations of different mountains and hills in the UK. We have done some map reading to help us with this as well.

We have continued to practise our Joseph rehearsal and the children are doing really well! Please keep encouraging your child to practise the songs at home using either their CD or youtube.

Mexican Day

Just a reminder that it is Mexican Day in Class 4 on Wednesday 30th November.  If children could come to school in Mexican / brightly coloured clothes, that would be great!

Many thanks
