St Chad’s

Well done to the Choir children who sang at St Chad’s after school today – you sounded beautiful!

Thank you to the mums and dads and nans and grandads (and aunties as well!) who came to support the children.

Arrangements for KS2 Joseph Performance

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware, tomorrow is the first night of our Joseph performance. The children need to be at school at 5:15pm where they will go to their classroom to get changed into their costume. The doors for parents will also open at 5:15pm so that you can drop your child off and go and get a seat straight away. This arrangement is the same for Thursday’s performance too.

The children will go home in their costume after the performance on Tuesday but please can you make sure it is returned to school on Wednesday morning so it is ready for the next performance on Thursday.

The children have been working so hard and are really looking forward to performing for you. There are still some tickets available at the school office should you wish to purchase more.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Barratt

Class 3 Christmas Party

Dear Parents/Carers,

This year we will be having our own class Christmas party on the afternoon of Wednesday 14th December. As I am sure you are aware, this is the same day as the school Christmas Lunch so we are not doing a food list as in previous years but would appreciate any contributions of snack type food – biscuits, crisps, popcorn,  which the children can have throughout the afternoon.

The children must come to school in their uniform but can bring party clothes to change into in the afternoon.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to pop into school to ask. I would just like to take the opportunity to say thank you for your continued support throughout this term and have a Happy Christmas.

Pre-School News & Activity

Coming soon…

Weekly News 09.12.16

It’s been a really busy week with lots going on but the children seem to be coping really well in school, with the build up to the end of term and the different events next week! Thanks for all your support in preparing children for the different events so far this month.

Choir – Bicton Church Sunday 11th December

Just a reminder that the choir children singing at Bicton Church on Sunday evening are expected to wear their school uniform.

Christmas Raffle

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and/or provided prizes for the FOBs Christmas raffle.  Thank you also to Marina and Sharon for giving up their time to join us in assembly this morning to draw the raffle prizes with the children.

A Special Visitor

We were joined by a very special visitor this afternoon and I think it is fair to say he was pretty much mobbed when he arrived on the playground! Thank you to FOBs for buying chocolates for everyone in school today.  We will upload some of the photos from Santa’s visit, over the weekend.

IMPORTANT CHANGES NEXT WEEK

Please remember to check the website next week for clubs, as several clubs have been cancelled due to the evening performances on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Also, there is no Joseph rehearsal on Monday and no clubs next Friday on the last day of term.

Evening Performances

We will send a letter out on Monday confirming the times that children need to arrive at school next week but just to help your arrangements next week, children will need to be dropped off at school for both the Joseph performances and the evening Nativity at 5:15 where staff will assist them in getting changed.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Johnson

Class 4 party

Dear Parents,

On Wednesday 14th December Class 4 will be having their Christmas party.

Please can children bring party clothes to change into that day.

They don’t need to bring anything else, as Class 4 staff will provide the food and drink for the party.

Many thanks,

Mrs S Foster

Class 2 weekly update

English

We have carried on with our letter writing this week, reading ‘Dear Father Christmas’ and ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ to influence our writing. The children have also written a character description of Father Christmas using adjectives (year 1) and adjectives, verbs and adverbs (year 2).

Maths

This week the children have learned how to tell the time. Year 1 have learned o’clock and half past times and year 2 have focussed on o’clock, half past, quarter to and quarter past times.

Geography

We have explored the different animals that live in the Arctic this week and how they camouflage to keep them safe. We then looked at maps and where the animals live in the Arctic Circle.

Letters and Sounds

Year 1 New graphemes ‘ue’, ‘wh’ and ‘ph’.

Year 2 Adding suffixes to words ending in ‘y’ – change the ‘y’ to an ‘i’ and add ‘es’.

Spellings

The children have not had new spellings this week as next Friday we will be very busy with the Nativity and end of term activities.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Edwards

Untitled

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children have not been set spellings this week as next week is very busy with other things going on.

I have told the children that as their homework (this week and over Christmas) I would like them to work really hard on learning their times tables.

Year 3 children need to know their 2, 5, 10, 3, 4, and 8 times tables by the end of Year 3.

Year 4 children need to know all times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of Year 4.

I have told children not to overwhelm themselves but to focus on one times table a week to really try to get to grips with.

Thank you for your support with this,

Miss Barratt

Class 3 Weekly Update

Class 3 have been working hard this week:

English – We have continued our work on narrative poetry this week and have linked it to our RE lessons about the Christmas Story. We have looked at how Christmas Carols are poems and analysed them to see which parts of the Christmas Story different ones talk about. We have also planned and written our own Christmas Poems  – retelling all or part of the Christmas story ourselves.

Maths – We have continued our work on multiplication this week and have applied our knowledge of multiplying by 10 and 100 to other contexts. We have also moved onto learning the grid method for multiplication which we will go over again after Christmas.

PE – Children have continued to practise key skills in PE this week.

We have been working very hard this week on final rehearsals ready for Joseph. We can’t wait for you to see it!

Have a lovely weekend!

Maths – Time

Class 1 have been finding out about time.  We read the story the Hungry Caterpillar, have been singing Days of the Week song, playing What’s the time Mr Wolf, counting how many things we can do in one minute e.g. write our name, take our shoes off and put them back on, how many star jumps etc.
