Cardingmill Valley

We had a great day in the sunshine measuring streams and building dams

Forest School

We had a lovely, sunny morning in Forest School. First the children were challenged to match coloured cards to things they found on the site. Then they all had a go at creating natural pieces of artwork. They made houses, animals, people and had lots of other creative ideas.

Making Fruit Salads

Class 2 have enjoyed learning through D&T this week. Yesterday we went into the new eco room and tasted a variety of different fruits. The children then had a go at peeling and chopping up their favourite fruit and made yummy fruit salads.

Celebration Assembly: Thursday 20th July

The children are all looking forward to sharing some of the songs we have been learning this term with you.

This time we would like the children to come to school ready to perform.  The boys will need to wear  either a yellow or black top (or both) with dark bottoms.  For the girls we would like to see gold and green and/or colourful clothing.

I won’t give anymore away.

We look forward to seeing lots of you next week.

Gardening evening 12.07.17 – help needed!

Can anybody spare an hour this Wednesday after clubs have finished?  David Orrell and Graham will be at school from 4:30 onwards and they would really appreciate some extra pairs of hands to lay more bark on the paths and install the rest of the musical instruments in the wildlife garden.

If you are able to help, please speak to myself or to Mrs Orrell or just leave a message for us at the school office.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Jack’s Group – Gorge Walking

Every group had an amazing time gorge walking but, whereas the other 3 groups climbed from the road down to the sea and back up, Jack’s group climbed up the gorge from the road to the top of the valley – this route is pretty challenging but, as you can see from the children’s faces, great fun!  On the final photo looking out over Cardigan Bay, you can see the minibus and where they started their journey!

Jack’s Group – Kayaking

On Saturday, Jack’s group spent a very sunny morning kayaking on the Dysynni Estuary.

Class 4 Update

English

The children are reading to the end of our novel study ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’ now.  They have written biographies of Kensuke’s life this week.  Next week they will be exploring the main themes in the story and doing some essay writing based on this.

Maths

The children have studied line graphs and presenting and interpreting data this week.  They are now looking at using decimal numbers accurately within measures.

Geography

The children had lots of fun building coastal landscapes using Modroc plaster this week.  Next week they will be finishing and painting these to put on display.

We are all looking forward to our visit to Carding Mill Valley next week to learn more about rivers and living things in their habitats.
