School Uniform Sale

FOBS are holding a second-hand school uniform sale this Thursday. The sale will take place straight after Celebration Assembly in the ‘old’ school library then at 3:00 under the shelter on the infant playground.

They would welcome any further donations of uniform which your child has grown out of and all proceeds will go towards school funds.

Many thanks.

Class 3 Maths

Today we received a letter from the Borrowers who are living in the wildlife area. We were told about some humans that they have seen and were told how many times bigger they were than the borrowers. We then used our multiplication facts to work out how tall they were and then we drew their lengths on the playground before deciding who out of school it could have been.

End-of-term BBQ Thank You

Thank you to FOBS for all their hard work in arranging the end of term BBQ and entertainment and to  everyone who helped make it such a lovely evening.  It was a perfect end to the week and the term!

Transition Day

We had a lovely day for transition day yesterday! Class 1 had lots of fun and were brilliantly behaved. I have included photos from yesterday afternoon to show the children on a ‘rainbow treasure hunt’.

They have been given a piece of homework to complete over the Summer holidays. I have asked the children to fill an envelope with holiday memories, this could include photographs, pictures, postcards, etc. We will share these with our friends in September.

I hope you have a lovely Summer holiday and I look forward to seeing the children in September!

Kind regards

Miss Edwards

Class 2 Weekly update

This week the children have been enjoying D&T. We started the week looking at a variety of fruits and describing them to our friends. The children were then asked to write descriptive sentences about the fruit they liked the most. We then carried out a survey to find out which fruit was the most popular. Year 1 children completed a pictogram to show their findings and year 2 made bar charts. We have been discussing healthy eating, the children enjoyed making their own balanced meals on a paper plate and sharing their ideas with their friends. On Tuesday we had lots of fun making our own fruit salads and the children were very sensible in the new eco room. We have been evaluating our fruit salads today and discussed what we liked and what we could have done to improve our over all product.

Spellings – The children had their final spelling test today. They have not been given new spellings to learn for next week.

Carrier Bags – Please could your child come to school next week with a carrier bag. This will allow them to start bringing home work and books we have gathered over the year.

Have a great weekend!

Miss Edwards

Homework for children coming into Class 3 next year

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware, the children from Class 2 spent a day in Class 3 yesterday for transition day. It was lovely to spend some time with them and get to know them all a little bit better.

All the children were given an envelope to take home with them over the summer holidays. I have asked them to fill the envelope with memories from their summer – leaflets, photos, pictures, shells, pieces of writing etc so that on the first day back in September, we can spend some time finding out about each other’s summer.

Please don’t worry if you misplace the envelope over the holidays, I have told the children to just collect things and put them in another envelope or bag.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to pop into Class 3 at the end of the school day to see me.

Thank you,

Miss Barratt

Class 3 Weekly Update

English: We have continued our work on poetry this week and the children have written some poems similar to the ones they have read. They wrote their own ‘Sounds in the evening’ poem where they described all the different sounds they can hear at night time. We have been revising adjectives, adverbs, prepositions and fronted adverbials through this work and the children have been challenged to use these within their writing,

Maths: We have been doing some work on measurement this week. The children have been measuring in mm, cm and m and have done some work on converting these measurements.

Science: This week we have learned about the pollination process and have had a go at describing and ordering the process.

Geography: We have ended our work on settlements by designing our own settlement and creating a map of it. The children were very good at giving reasons for their positions of the different features and including a key on their map.

This week we have spent some time preparing and practising for celebration assembly and the children had a great day on transition day in Class 4.

Just so you are aware, the children have not been given new spellings for next week due to it being the end of term.

As it is the last week of term next week, please could you ensure your child brings a carrier bag to school as throughout the week we will be sending home children’s work from this year.

Thank you! Enjoy your weekend!
