Class 4 weekly update

English – Analysing features of a poem.  Then planning, drafting and editing rhyming poems based on one of the characters in our class novel study.  The children were asked to include features such as alliteration, similes, metaphors and personification.  They came up with some great ideas to describe the character of Patricia!

Maths – Year 4 have been identifying angles and comparing and ordering angles.  Year 5 have been measuring angles in degrees and measuring with a protractor.

Topic – Comparing the two main cities in Ancient Greece – Athens and Sparta.  The children did their own research to compare both places to find the differences and similarities.

Spellings – To be tested on Friday 25th May

We have had a lovely day doing lots of ‘Royal wedding’ based activities.  Photos to follow.

Red, white and blue day

Well done to all the children for coming to school wearing a combination of red, white and blue – they all looked fantastic!

Year 6 transport letters

Just a reminder that the transport forms need to be returned to the school office by next Friday please.

We have our next gardening day coming up on Saturday 16th June, if you can spare an hour or two to come along and help.

In Memory Of Jenna

We had some very sad news yesterday when we heard that one of our former pupils, Jenna Byrne, passed away earlier this week. Many of us at Bicton still remember Jenna’s bubbly personality and her lovely smile. We all send our love and thoughts to her parents, Cara and Mark, and their family at this very sad time.

 

Class 3 Royal Wedding Celebrations

We’ve had a great time decorating biscuits to celebrate the Royal Wedding. Prince Harry even made an appearance in Class 3!!!

This week the children have continued to revise and use the sounds taught over the year.

Our focus sounds were:

i-e – a nice smile

igh – fly high

Thank you for feeding back on how your child is getting on with reading their ditties and group book words.  We have enjoyed reading some of the sentences children have written at home and shared on Tapestry.

Maths

This week Class 1 have been busy sorting 2d shapes using different criteria.

 

Class 3 Weekly Update

English: The Year 3 children this week have been designing and describing their own Chocolate Factory, making sure they use powerful adjectives, adverbs and prepositions within their descriptions. All the children had a go at writing their own Royal Wedding story at the end of the week using lots of description and including key story writing features such as speech.

Maths: The Year 3 children have been working on multiplication and division this week, using known facts to help them solve other problems and solving some reasoning problems.

Science: We have learned this week about how a fossil is formed and have watched some video clips to help us understand this better.

Computing: The children have been applying their skills on scratch to create their own scenes within the programme.

RE: The children have done an activity linked to the Royal Wedding, thinking about their wishes for the couple.

Other activities this week include designing a dress, suit and wedding cake for the Royal Wedding and decorating biscuits to celebrate!

A very big WELL DONE to all the Year 2 children who completed their SATS this week! We are very proud of you!

Class 5 update 18.05.18

Firstly, we would like to say a huge well done to all the Year 6s for their hard work this week and the way they approached the SATs.  Their positive attitude was wonderful to see and they should feel very proud of themselves – we certainly are!

Well done to the Year 5s for the independence they showed in their project work this week. They seem to have really enjoyed researching buy cialis in mexico their chosen topics and preparing their presentations to share with the Year 6s.

Please can children ensure that they have their PE kit in school all week from now on, as we will be starting to prepare for Sports Day and may be able to fit in extra PE sessions after the half term break.
